First Oil Change??

don't have access to my manual...

When should i pull the oil out of the car the first time.

I used to think that you had to pull it at around 1000 miles since there is all kinds of potential debree from the break in but others tell me the motor has special break in oil that needs to remain in the motor for....

The car has a built computer that will tell you when its time to get your oil changed.

I did mine at approximately 1000 miles for the same reason(s) you stated....If you want to have the same "special" breakin oil that comes factory equipped, use Havoline, ive read that it has the same formulation as the factory fill Honda. However, I filled my TL with Mobil 1 cuz i didnt know that there was "special" break in oil in the engine. Oh well...I doubt it makes a difference anyways.

If there was any debris, your oil filter will catch it. The manual specifically says to follow the computer on the first oil change. (presumably since it's break-in oil)

What about after the first oil change? I've been following what the MID says but the service rep told me to come in more frequently. FYI - I only drive the car about 5,000 miles a year or less.

Several of the oilheads on this site have had the factory fill analyzed and found that it is undergoing significant breakdown in the neighborhood of 3000 miles. What this means is that if you follow your manual and your MID and wait until 5000+ miles, there is the possibility of not doing your engine any favors. Consequently, these members have suggested to remove the factory fill at around the 3000 mile mark.

I'm getting close to 3,000 miles. A trip to AC next week should do the trick.
