First Flaw in 2004 6 MT TL
I had had my 2004 for 7 days when I noticed some loose white plastic in the center high mounted brake light. I thought that it must be some loose insulation. When I checked it out, it was the broken retaining clip for the brake light housing. The panel is now only held on by one clip. It is hangiong slightly where the clip is broken. This is not only upsetting, but curious as NO ONE has yet to sit in the back seat.
Of course I will take it back to the dealer for a warranty repair but I wasn't planning on needing same so soon. So much for the comprehensive PDI.

I took my 6MT TL in for this. They took one look and said 'oh yeah we see lots of that'. They fixed it literally in 25 minutes. And it looks fine now. I did it on my 1st oil change. Its much better now, the rear window doesn't get covered in a red glow at night when I brake.

Do you have tints in rear window? (if so, did they tint the window in front of 3rd brake light?)
If NO, well, it could be just the unfortunate quality issue as EmuMessenger mentioned above.

Thanks for the replies.
I acknowledge that my brake light problem has nothing to do with my choice of transmission. I do not have any tints installed and in fact had never sat in the back seat before I noticed the problem. I had thought that it was a rare occurance. I am intrigued that your dealership said that they see this flaw often; I don't believe I noticed it before on this board. I am happy to hear that it could be easily repaired however. Do you suppose that it is a result of overtightening the retaining bolts for the light assembly during manufacturing?
