First B service - should I do it?
First B service - should I do it?
Hi guys,
So it's time for my first B service. My dealership here in Canada wants to charge me $179.95 to do it. They told me they change the oil and "verify and inspect" a bunch of things. Brakes, doors, suspension, etc...
My car has 33,000km/20,000miles on it (I know, I did a lot of driving in a little over a year). Should I pay for this service? I'm going to have my car up on a lift this weekend removing my bumper and clearing my headlights, etc... I could easily change my oil at the same time. I have the Honda oil filter wrench, and I'd like to put Mobil 1 in there anyway.
What do y'all think? Please let me know. Thanks!
Rob

^^ I guess you could. or just do it yourself. They dont frown upon you doing your own oil changes. I take mine to a mobil 1 quick lube just down the street.......Well I will when Im up for one. I took my CL there religiously..
If you're going to have your car on the lift, do it all yourself and save over $150.
Look at what's on the list for the B service. There isn't anything there that you can't inspect and check. No tools or special equipment is required, just a pair of hands to poke or jiggle or turn the wheels.
Anyway, this is all stuff that should be checked during any regular oil/filter change, so why pay the extra money?

Zax, like Ron said, if it's on the lift, you may as well take the time to do it. That's $179.95 CD right. I dunno what it equates to in USD, but my B service was $87 and change. The one thing I liked was providing me the measurements for all the brake pads.
