Finally a TL owner
I picked up a 2008 Acura TL in PPM with 21k miles. I got a sweet deal at my BMW dealer. I was looking at a 2007 328xi... sadly that car was sold 15 min before I got to the dealer. I saw the TL and decided to test drive it and now its mine
.
I like the handling it seems a bit rough but not that bad. Now for the good stuff. What are the best and first mods that I should do? I took off the front plate...thats about it.
The handling is very nice....does not compare to my BMW's but much better then my Lexus. Its fun and I am happy about that. The 3.2 V6 engine has 258HP what are the 0-60 times on it?

I agree with ^^ I just picked mine up about a month ago, I got the windows tinted recently and have an ATLP cat back exhaust on order along with the RV6 J3 J-pipe, and plan on picking up the Tein SS coilovers in about two months

IMO it doesn't, are you talking the base TL or TL-S? I have a TL-S, sounds nice from the outside! Can barely here it unless you get on it and that's not even that loud

Thanks for the welcomes
. Does anyone know what kind of bulb is needed for the sidemarkers? I want to add white LED. And how do I turn my fogs on with the parking lights?

Ok few questions. I drove 110 miles after full fill up and the tank is already half way. Any MPG monitor in the car or anything? The engine temperature never gets to the middle its always a bit off.
Anyway to get the locks to unlock once the car is put into park? When putting the car in R it makes a clunk sometimes you can feel it. Is this normal? Shifting seems a bit weird (First Acura I have had).
Besides those issues I enjoy the car. Its fun to drive. I can't wait until I start modding. I am now noticing more and more TL's on the road and I think its time to look apart
.
Since this car is not CPO and I bought it from my BMW dealer...it has 21k miles. It is a late 08 model so that means I have until late 2012 for the 4/50k warranty. And then 7/70k for the power train?

The locks should again be a feature you can set in the personalized setting in the same info screen below the speedo, I have a manual so mine unlock when the car is turned off and they lock around 15 mph or so. I'd personally have the car looked at for the clunk while it's still under warranty, you never know when buying a used car how they drove it or how it was maintained.

You have to remember it's all in how your drive it, I find that I can get decent gas mileage but when I start "playing" around it's substantially different. Anyway, scross thru the info screen below your speedo, mine has a trip calculator and it gives the average speed/mpg/time and miles. My temp guage also never reaches the middle always slightly below, pretty sure that's just the temp that they run at

I am thinking the clunk is normal from reading around here but I will drive a few TLs soon at a local Acura dealer to see. Anyone know where I can get a TL plate frame? And the license plate bulbs are 194 T10?
Thanks! I still have no idea about the MPG screen your talking about? I hope you can explain further to help a noob like me :P.

Welcome aboard. New member myself, but have already found alot of usefull info here
Right now I am averaging 19MPG, which considering I mostly drive city isn't to bad. But as someone said it's all relative to how you drive. Good luck!
Congrats on your WDP TL-S.

Can someone help me with getting my MPG gauge working? I want it like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jTpl...eature=related
Does that only work for TL Type S cars? Or cars with Nav? I am lost haha.
Thanks for the welcomes

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase.
There is a ton of great Acura-specific info on this forum, but your first stop should the 3G Service Center---aka the 3G Garage.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-service-department-aka-garage-questions-answers-check-here-first-553557/
In your case, I would recommend you pay special attention to the fluid changing procedures in the 3G Garage and change all of the fluids before making any mods. Simple fluid changes will familiarize you with the car. TLs are very easy to work on, even for someone who has never maintained their own vehicle before.
If you plan on doing mods, you should invest in a Service Manual to give you instructions and diagrams for disassembly/replacement of parts on the car. You can buy electronic versions or go to Helms for a book.
Check your car for an Owners Manual and read it thoroughly. Every question you have asked can be answered simply by referring to the manual. If you did not receive a manual with your car, go to the MyAcura website, register your vehicle and check out the electronic Owners Manual.
As for your transmission, the clunking while going into R can be normal (threads in the 3G Garage), but you should get it checked out since it is a new purchase. Check in with your salesperson and he/she should be able to hook you up.
I would advise you hold off on the mods for a while. Get to know your baby in stock form first. These are fine cars even in OEM trim. You will appreciate enhancing it's looks/performance that much more when you do start with the mods.
Problem areas you should be aware of as a new owner (read up on these issues, as most of us seem to have had them already):
Shitty batteries
Rattles/squeaks/noises--see my thread on Shin-Etsu https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/why-shin-etsu-shiznit-745587/
Transmission issues--switch and shitty OEM fluid replacement
The Search function on Acurazine can be kludgy---some members report better results searching Google for "Acurazine (whatever you are looking for)". PLEASE USE SEARCH!!
My personal 3 favorite mods:
1) AEM V2
2) Tie between KP Technologies Window Roll Up module and Navi Hack (free!)
3) J-Pipe
Again, congrats on the TL and welcome to the community.

Thanks for the post. You are right for now I might do some LED upgrades. Interior LED and sidemarker LED and tinted windows for sure. 20% or 5%.
