Finally bought the Type S!

Finally, I bought a pre owned type s, 50k miles, black, looks good. I got the wheel package for extra 700 bucks. I thought it was worth especially cuz of potholes in chicago...

It has a 12k mile warranty since its CPO, the lady offered me the 100k warranty for 1,000. Should I get it?

POST PICTURES IN A BIT.

so if my rims get bent then they gimme a new rim, or if my alignment goes off, then they fix it, or anything to do with the wheels/rims they fix it. it also has dent remover or something where if i get dents on my car that doesn't hurt the paint they take it out with dent wizard. and if my windshield breaks they fix that 2.

Should I get the 100k warranty for 1000?

The only thing I would be worried about is electronics...are the 08 type s's known to have any problems, cuz so far I've heard nothing, and so I wouldn't get the warranty for $1000 extra...

I bought a CPO and didn't have to pay extra to be covered up to 100000. Make them include it since its a cpo

And I was covered for electronics up to 65k since it was cpo

Demand it and don't get bent over

the warranty is included until 12k miles - bumper to bumper. I also have powertrain/engine until 100k.

I'm talking about the 100k - bumper to bumper - so it would be for pretty much miles after 62,000 to 100,000 and cover any defects that may occur...all wear such as brakes/tires are not included..but if something were to go wrong with my navi or electrical system then they would fix it up..

I wouldnt waste your money. its usually once your warranty runs out things seem to break, same as when you buy a brand new vehicle, things start to break once it paid off. never fails.

Yes, listen justin and read it, because last time I remember my dad about get into fight fight them because it's just BS

No, they don't do allignment for your car for free
No, they don't replace tires, if nail goes in to it
No, they don't repair the edges if you scratch them

About the warranty.
I paid $1200 for it and did worth it. Replaced my nav (front screen with buttons and the rear unit, also they gave me a 2012 new map CD)

Other than elekctronics, I didn't have a big problem with the car but don't know much about 08 Type-S

but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That extended warranty will cover only 70% of the orginal warranty

You get 100% coverage ifffff you extended before getting in to the vehicle (while buying brand new)

Did they tell you that? Don't think so

I had 70% but did cover the nav and audio

Hope that helped, good luck

Congrats--nice low mileage!

Dude, you could buy several new wheels and tires for $700--how many do you plan on breaking? This is pure profit for the dealer.

As above, $1000 bumper to bumper warranty really depends on what is covered and the deductables. The TL isn't a bad car to have warranty coverage on, but usually these after market warranties are huge profit generators for the dealers because they never cover much. If you really want it, then tell them no, walk away, and watch the price come down. Good luck.

Hay I would buy it... Actually I did buy a 65k extra warranty for 1000$. Aswe speak my Bluetooth, and memory seat module is being replaced by Acura thatwould have cost me a good 500-700$. But its free I almost made my 1000$ back.

Plus I had work done on my car that I did have to pay for, and since I boughtthat extended warranty the dealer took some $$ off the bill.

BE SAFE BUY IT!!
Just be careful that you understand when it expires.. Some warranties willexpire after 100k or at a set date whatever comes first. So if you reach thatdate and your car has not reached 100k then your warranty is void.

THANKS!

lol thats exactly what I did and kept saying no and the $2500 warranty came down to $1000. LOL. I got the wheel package just because I feel like in most of my cars I always need to get alignment done every so often and hate having to pay 100 bucks/alignment. the 700 covers wheels, dents, windshield, so I thought it was worth it.

And I paid 22500 for it. Good luck finding one, these things are hard to find with low mileage and a decent price. Still contemplating whether I should get the 100k warranty or not... As long as the type S's don't have a known electrical problem or any other major issues, I think I should be good.

I would skip on the warranty and the wheel package, the local honda dealer try to offer the same thing when I bought my Type S I gladly declined. Like everyone else said if you gona buy something make sure to read the fine print in the ACTUAL contract where you are asking to sign, ignore all the crap that list in the brochure.

the wheel package only works if your tire blows when your rim bends (just happened to a friend and since the tire was still good he had to buy the new rim)

that 100k mile powertrain is only good until 7 years after the original purchase date (not when you bought it)

I covered my electronics with a warranty but that is only because my buddies went out and it cost somewhere around 3k

Congrats!

I bought the extended 100k warranty (or 4 years) and it covered fixing the side view mirror, motor mounts and the known "tighten fuel cap" error message. I paid $1k for it.

Just make sure it's through Acura and not a third party.

OMG! Two Days In and my Engine Light is ON!

I just bought my type s (08) CPO under warranty for 12k miles, it has 50k, and today the service engine light went on. When I went to the message I saw the following:

Vehicle Stability Assist61: ABS, VSA, TCS may not operate. Regular brakes work.

Airbag System: Airbags can't operate because battery voltage isn't normal.

Emission System: There may be a problem with the emission system (P0171).

What should I do! I can't believe it turned on 2 days after getting the car!

Should I get the 100k warranty bumper to bumper (except wear and tear) for $1000!!!???

looks like your battery is on the way out and need to be replace, for the other code you need dealer to reprogram the ECU and fix the issue.

Zubi, I have to agree with tru's assessment...Take it back to the dealer and have them check the battery condition, the connections and grounds, and clear all the codes.

Zubi as others pointed out, either a battery issue of you have some short in your fuse box....

just take the VSA/other errors fuses out and inspect for water in the fuse box....just wipe it clean and dry with a dry rag....

take the car to Advance Auto Parts and ask for a free battery checkup....they will check your full electrical system and point you in the right direction....

if you have to replace the battery, just buy it online at the advance auto parts website and use the code 'BATX' @ checkout for 25% (or $25 I forget) off....select pick up in store and enter the store information you are in....they will install it for free.....

I walked out the door and paid ($78) after taxes for an Autocraft GOLD battery on the wifey's car and its been almost 2.5 years and the battery is still doing great

Congrats on the TL-S. Nice find. Register her at www.myacura.com and save the Radio/Navi codes there for safe keeping.

So Should I get the 100k bumper to bumper (except wear and tear) warranty? for an extra 1,000? the finance lady called and said I can still get it...

I have the warranty till 62k, so basically if anything major were to happen between 62k and 100k it would be covered.

Personally I wouldn't get it. Acura's are pretty reliable and the wheel package is total bullshit. I think BMW started it because of the run flat tires. We don't have run flats. I purchased the warranty and only used it for motor mounts that cost $350 to replace. If you are hard on a car and bang the gears then I would get it but otherwise I would pass. Just my 2 cents.

Congrats on the ride. I would personally extend the bumper-to-bumper because I have already performed services(sensors, alternator) that cost that arleady but I didn't extend the 12/12,000 warranty. Of course that is if you prefer to do the services at the dealership since I believe the costs are much more expensive as opposed to doing it at an independent auto shop. And also if you plan on owning it that long.
But the wheel package is pretty much a waste of money since there are so many exclusions.
