Finally!!! ASPEC Body Kit + 07 Non Type-S Tails on '06 RBP & Bumper Question!??!?!

Hey Guys

FINALLY after much ado and weeks of confusion with Ray Laks Acura (JR was awesome) & Fedex shipping my ASPEC Kit to Shittown (aka Smithtown Acura), I've finally had Smithtown Acura do the ASPEC Body Kit + 07 non Type S Tail Swap out for $350...yes I'm a good negotiator. THE CAR LOOKS HOT! Btw, I also put on the moonroof visor and made sure there is no whistling etc with the help of the forum threads. What do you guys think?

TO CLEAR UP THE CONFUSION - this was an 06 base tail to 07 base tail swap out, NO LEDs panels, circuit boards, NOTHING needed...they are RED LEDs that are in the 06 behind the red reflector, all you do is TAKE OUT 06 tails and PUT 07s in. That's iT!!!!!!!!!!!

NOTE: Please see below, you will see some overall pics, then a few pics of what I think is a gap in the bumper?!? DO you guys have this gap after having the rear aspec bumper/lip installed?! Please advise...was this just a BAD Install from Smithtown Acura?!

Just Overall Pics...

NOW LOOK AT THIS - is this GAP supposed to be there?!?!? Was this just a bad install by the Acura Dealer? I'm going to make an appointment to get this fixed, unless you all have this?

Notice my finger pointing out the gap, one on the left and right of center on the bumper...

Highlighted...both areas, in the middle its tight, but in the circles, there's a gap between the aspec bumper and whatever is behind it...

GUYS please advise?!?!

Very bad install. I have a small gap on the side, but not on the back. I would make them fix it asap.

I had a similiar problem like yours but not as bad. However, I brought it back to Acura and they fixed it up with some stronger tape and they put something in between the gaps to fill up the empty space. Now it looks perfect. So I would suggest you bring it back to Acura to have them fix it up.

The gap happened for probably one of two reasons. 1 the installer didn't peel off the backing from the double sided tape. or 2 the installer forgot to clean the surface properly before trying to adhere the double sided tape to your original bumper.

Agreed - I did the install myself and the two reasons above are a good explanation to that gap.

Double stick tape - Yes....but there are also 4 screws that hold the Aspec cover in place. The four screws are installed in the middle where it is already tight against the original bumper.

You shouldn't have those gaps buddy......

Looks like they have the four screws in ok - otherwise it wouldn't be "good" in the middle.

Looks like a surface prep issue and/or the tape in those two areas didn't stick properly.

gauravp....I'm not picking on ya but if you paid them $350.00 to do all that work you have the right to ask that they re-do the rear cover - the right way.......

Nobody cares about your car the way you do...............

Inspect all of it before you go back - make sure everything else is ok so you can get it taken care of all at once.

hey buddy thanks - I got it on the group buy on this forum. It was like $840-850? Somewhere around there, I don't remember exactly the price...just do a search for aspec group buy

i'm assuming that the ASPEC kit from here would fit your canadian TL's...btw this is ONLY the body kit...not the rims+suspension for 850

and thanks for the compliments

It's defineitely a tape issue, I've pulled my rear bumper 3 times now (once when installing my A-spec, once when installing my 07 Type S tails, and once when reinstalling my type S tails since I'm a tard and forgot to swap the LED board.) I've had to re-tape the side wheel well-s section of the rear everytime but the back - IE the area where you have gaps have never come loose. Go back to the dealer and demand a reinstall. For the price they charged you(for probably only 2-3hrs of labor tops) The install should be flawless. And it's warrantied since they did the install so it's free regarless =D
Enjoy! The A-spec kit makes all the difference!

I got a 2004 model and it has never been removed. No gap, no peel, the double side tape is just really strong so good luck at the dealer, can't beleive they let you leave with that. Make sure you know the name of the guy who worked on your CAR, and fill a case on him.

How did you get the ASPEC kit and tails for so cheap? Isn't the retail for the ASPEC kit in the region of $800?
