Talking Few ?s from a "new" 04 TL owner

1. Anyone no where I can find an original 2004 Owners Manual
2. I need a memory two remote. Are all of the ones listed on Ebay compatible.
3. I also need a new key. I remember reading somewhere that I could get one at Home Depot and program it myself. True?
4. What specifically where the problems with the AT? The car seems solid, but I want to detect any problems while its still in warranty.
5. The previous owners phone book and other data is still in the system. Is disconnecting the battery cable the easiest way to delete all previous info?

Thanks for the info from an excited TL owner.

Either ebay of the blackmarket here

if they state it is a memory 2 controller

As far as I know you need to get this from Acura since the key has the chip in it, unless you do the Accord Key Fob Mod

Haven't had any yet

Before you disconnect your battery, do you have the Navi and Radio code ??
I think you can easily just delete all entry in the phonebook. Just hold the HFL button and say "Help" and it will tell you what command is available to you.

So far, they seem to be solid. The different setup in the 3G TLs seem to have resolved the failures.

The key to longevity in this transmission is no different than any other current automatic transmission. Drive the car gently, and change the fluid if the car has more than 30,000 miles on it. Change the fluid at least once via a drain and refill with Genuine Honda ATF-Z1, drive several hundred miles, and repeat. Three drain and refills, spaced several hundred miles apart, will result in mostly new fluid. Thereafter, draining and refilling once every 15-20K or yearly will eliminate the fluid as a contributing factor to failures.

Also, although everyone preaches the importance of changing the fluid, I have yet to see any direct evidence linking more frequent fluid changes to an automatic extension of the transmission life. The Honda ATF-Z1 turns brown very quickly, and the color has been found to be irrelevant through fluid analysis. However, even if there isn’t a direct link between more frequent fluid changes and extended transmission life, its personally still worth the peace of mind, and sometimes, new fluid helps improve shift quality.

Anyways, welcome to the club and enjoy the TL!

Thanks for the input.

Is there a link on how to change the tranny fluid and the appropriate fluid to use?
