Feel Stupid-Bad Driver

This is the second time I have done this on my 6MT. I got over the point in mileage where I really wanted to open her up so I lit her up and twice I missed going in to second gear. So I just coasted in the car at one quick point reving high in neutral. I got to stop this stuff!! Any one else getting thrown out of second when rolling through the gears or is this just me. My left foot wants to release too soon in this car!!!

Two ppoint shifting

Two point shift may be an answer. With practice you can do it fast enough. Instead of shifting in one straight motion, try to shift in two motions, stoping for a fraction of second at neutral. Dunno if I'm explaining it well but I can do it and have never missed the proper shifting.

Pretty much but it's not really one shift neutral shift second. It's one motion with validation of neutral. SOrry cannot put it in words.

I think he means shift out of first, wait a split second with your hand on the knob and then proceed to 2nd. Just feel neutral before you slam into 2.

Nope! I meant two point shifting in a one motion. Double clutching is to avoid wearing of synchros. It will not prevent from missing gear and is mostly done for downshifting. Original poster had problems with upshifting from 1st to 2nd. I suggest he should try doing this in two motions than in one quick shift. Again I may not be articulating well enough what I want to get across.

easy go straight down

first to second, do not even consider neutral you do not have to go through it.practice makes perfect, but practice at slower rpms until you get the hang of it. Some of it may be the tranny not you., I test drove a 6mt accord coupe and missed
a gear also. I have driven sticks since my 69 volvo with a truck stick, 76 volvo with better short normal throw. 82 volvo. 84 bmw 325e, 87 bmw 325is. l 88 legend, 90
legend. both coupes. 2000 bmw 528 stick,
