Farewell to my 3G and the Thank You Acurazine Community
This post is a farewell to my 3G TL and a thank you to the entire acurazine community. I 've been a member here since 2002 and want to thank you all for the many years I’ve been on this forum and the amount of knowledge I’ve gained on cars in general and also my TL’s. Lot of knowledgeable members on this site that have saved me from con artist mechanics who pretend they know it all and tons of money saved. I’ve been a member since I had my first TL in 2003 which was a TL Type S and then transitioned into a new 06 TL.
Well my needs have changed and I’m done with school and with a new kid and family, it was time to part ways with my 06 TL. I sold it as is with all the mods on it, to a local non-member and purchased an SUV. The one thing I always wanted in this car was more power but besides that, I had no complaints in my ownership from 2006 till 2015. I’ve always envied you turbo and supercharged guys and didn't have the guts to do it to my car. I went through 2 transmissions but both covered by Acura. I will always visit this site, as its become a ritual for me, on web surfing so you’ll still see me participating in discussions.
Thank You guys!
A few shots of my TL and a few shots of my new ride.
I just noticed, HOLY CRAP LOWER CENTRE STACK BUTTONS!!! That's a shitton of buttons around the shift lever! Kind of reminds me of an airplane in some ways.
I wish I could keep the black on my car as nice as you kept yours. Damn gravel.
I always loved your TL and was sad when I heard you were moving on. Join all of us ex-Acura guys over in Car Talk

But who can blame you...serious upgrade there. Love that SUV.
Congrats on all the life achievements!
Tell me about it... very few old timers left now... we are a dying breed. Lot of new owners which is good and bad.. LoL but .. no matter the upgrade, I still look at all 3rd Gen TL's in awe when I see it on the road. It hold a special place for me in my life. Lot of memories, lot of meets with lot of cool people on this forum.
Nice looking Macan! I met a Porsche marketing director a year or so ago on a flight and he was raving about this new mid sized SUV Porsche was rolling out called the "Macan". It really is as sexy as he described. congrats!
Wow another OG gone! Sad to see your car go bro. I know it's been YEARS since we met up and I'm surprised we both stuck around as long as we did. I'm sure our mentalities are exactly the same in that we stuck around along longer than intended purely because of all the investment put into our cars and wanted to ride it out and enjoy it. Always loved your NBP, tastefully done. Too bad it's gone.
L-O-V-E your taste with the new upgrade. Not just a regular Macan, the top shelf! I'm looking to make the leap as well in the not too distant future. I'm eager to see what next year's M2 has to offer (if I am going to stay small and sporty with a manual) or the new beautiful XF-S (if I am going to go the family route) suits me.
But I am totally with you on the opinion that this is an awesome forum; but there was just something much more exciting when the OG members were around. All the meets we had in the heyday of 2006-2010. Would have been nice if the Acura brand had stayed on track and kept putting out good cars. We could have renewed the spirit and many of us would have stayed. (The TLX crowd is TOTALLY different, meh. They are "Lexus types".) Oh well, everything in life is a phase, things move on and many of us will go different directions.
Wish you luck with everything. But I know you won't be gone, you will lurk around here just as I will. lol.

Glad to see you're still around man... You were one of the OG's I was waiting to see if would post... but didn't know if you were even with the 3G anymore. Honestly, I think I stayed in the Acura Family since 2002 partly because of this forum, as dumb as it may sound - no joke. But obviously peoples needs change and so be it.
I'm totally agree with you on the meets back then, just a different presence and crowd. Good times. I've visited this forum pretty much every day so far since 2002 .. lol. Part of my browsing protocol and it will continue to be.
Your choices in vehicles .... Also look at the new GLE if you haven't already.
Honestly, I think it's more about us being different than the meets being different. By the time I got into going to meets (barring those old racing meets in Hialeah/Saga Bay when I was 17)...I was already 10 years older than most of the guys coming to meets. It always felt kinda juvenile and self serving so as I've grown, I've outgrown that more. Now, I just like to do a BBQ with a few people, clean our cars...take some pics...
Anyway...wife loves your new ride, she says she wants one.
You've been through the good and bad in the TL and managed to have a fantastic looking ride,so when I saw that you were leaving I thought what newer vehicle could take it's place........Well you've certainly made quite a choice.
Good luck and keep in touch.
It's bittersweet to see another OG lay down their arms, but part and parcel for this neck of the woods. Many thanks for the conversations regarding restoration of ride quality. Our PMs were a good source of motivation to get it done and I was always impressed by your commitment to the craft. Best of fortunes to you and yours and enjoy the ride!
Dude, I always loved that TL, especially the RonJon kit. Congrats on the Porsche.

I know we have never met in person, but I feel like I have known you both for years... hahaha.
