Fake nails...
Fake nails...
being a gentleman that I am I allways open my wife's door first so I never noticed this on my vehicles but yesterday at lunch this friend of mine and I were comparing notes on his Accord and my TL and I noticed these scratches on the concave section of were the door handles sit ( he has 2 girls and his wife of course)..
, he could not believe his eyes, its a 2005 and has had it less than 3 weeks...anyway I'm searching for him if there are these "clear" inserts to put them in so when you try to grab the door handle and hit the paint you will hit the liner/ clear guard whatever ...anyone, BTW if you saw his daughters ( both teens) you will understand that fake nails are in....

If you think fake nails are bad you should see what a diamond engagement ring has done to my wife's Honda Ody Van...
Honestly all I can suggest is "training" the folks who ride in your car. I know it sounds rude but simply saying "Please watch your nails/ring on the door handle" or "Please don't slam the door" really does work. If they are your friends, they will respect your requests. Kids, well who knows...
Then again I'm a "married old fart" I'd hate to try the above on a date (if she goes for the door before you get there). It would look like you like the car better than the date. Probably true for some dates

Any of the clear bra products (3M; Stonguard; etc.) would work to eliminate this problem. However, it seems they only make applications for the hoods, bumpers, fenders and side mirrors. Perhaps an install shop could do a custom application from any unused cut-outs?

To Adobeman;
It's not at all rude. It's your car and you have every right to demand that others do as you say and treat it with respect.. whether or not they do such for their own cars or those of others.
Your property, your rules. I do the same with mine.

There is no specific timeline as to when you should put the clear bra on the car. You just should try to do it before the front of the car gets too nicked up.
My car had 30 miles on it when I got the clear bra installed. A co-worker of mine bought a one year old RX330 and had the clear bra installed on her car. She had a couple small nicks, but wanted to minimize any long term issues. I am amazed how invisible it is and how well they fit.

Indeed. I am a little pissed I didn't put it on right away though, 7500 miles later and I have several small chips and I don't think I want to put it on now... not sure what to do.
I have the clear bra, but its called rock chip protectant, and its also around where the door handle is, but then again this is my car, only me, myself, and I get to drive it, and that just aint gonna change.
