F@#@ Acura

Recently I made a post to see which vehicle got a 10 for exterior and I was a little surprised with the results. Thanks to all who participated.
Well recently I went and test drove an 08 IS350 LUXURY and besides the so called faster acceleration , I believe the type-s 5AT, is a better handling car. I am no expert but it sure handled as if it did. I took some on ramps and exits a lot quicker on the type-s. Maybe I am being biased but the type-s feels all around better for everyday driving, any different opinions I would appreciate it.
I was actually planning on getting the IS 350 sport package for almost 42,000 before taxes but today I get a quote through the internet fleet manager for a 2008 type-s for 32,500 before taxes, damn damn damn.
Money is not an issue, so I would like to read some opinions in why I should get either the type-s or the IS 350? I know some will post ,its your money do what you want, but I am an open minded person and I am a firm believer in listening to other peoples advice. With that let me hear some advice? TIA guys

Welcome to our "burden" as TL owners. We all know there other cars out there with more "cache" (i.e. Lexus and BMW) or with the buzz of being a "new" innovator (i.e. Infiniti), but none of the competitors have been able to match the "bang for the buck" factor that the TL offers (Infiniti came close on the last iteration of the G35 and G37).

I get a relatively high degree of performance, cool (useful) gadgets, and luxury in a package, and for a price, which the competitors have not matched. Hard to beat and hard to pass up. Besides, if you spend even a little lime in the photo gallery at this site you'll see just how incredible these cars can look with just a little additional time and money (and you still come out ahead in terms of cost versus if you'd purchased one of those other cars).

Best of luck on your decision making, but I'll tell you, I've been where you are and I am a TL owner now and love my car.

:ibtl:

Both have pros and cons.

I choose the TL-S primarily for Value, a little bigger for the family and Overall Styling.

Because they are gselling a well equiped 2008 type-s for 32,500 and I am now having second doubts about getting the IS350.

Because Acura had to go and make such a great car at a great price and "mess up" his decision process when he was about to "settle" (and I use the word intentionally) on an IS.

Ttribe your comments are right on point thats the reason I made this thread. I do not want to have any regrets a year from now.

To tell you the truth I do not think the 3G TL design will be matched for a long time. I do not know if it is the aggresive look or the roomy interior and well laid out interior. Plus the fact that it gives you the security anf feeling of being safe in case of a car accident, especially with family on board. Just my .02

I would go for the Type-S. Even if there was something you liked more about the Lexus, with a 10k price difference, you could make the TL-S above and beyond how either of them started out for less than 10k.

It's definetly safe. I've posted before that our local dealer has a testamonial letter and pics of a 3G (2005, IIRC) that was CRUSHED between a Semi, a row of stopped cars on the freeway and a guard-rail. The driver walked away - not completly uninjured, but relatively minor injuries.

Toyota thinks much more of their products than I do! In addition, they have slipped slightly in the Powers ratings and that includes Lexus I believe.

For me, the TL provides the best compromise of performance, space, toys and looks at a reasonable price. Toyota and Lexus do make very nice cars, they just aren't much fun to drive. My $10,000 would be invested elsewhere.

If you don't need the fun, look at the 2008 Accord for the newest face on the block.

I wonder how people would view if the TL and TLS had a base price of around $40k plus. Before I bought my 06TL, I test drove the the IS250 and wasnt really impressed...but when I test drove the TL I made the decision right on the spot...money was no object either.

The biggest deciding factor in my mind between these two vehicles is that they are both 4 door sedans, but with the IS you just cant fit anyone back there. So if your planning on taking the family someplace the TL is your only choice

The bold highlighting should answer your question-- the TL-S feels better for everyday driving to you.

All that matters is how the car feels to you and makes you feel- which would you rather drive/sit in for the next couple of years?
For me, it was TL > G35, RX-8, Mustang, CTS, GTO, etc. (I decided on the TL several months before the IS and the new 2006 BMW 3's came out.)

I think he's saying that he doesn't like acura because they have so many enticing offers. They make it hard for im to decide which car to get.

Will Y. would you consider the IS350 over the TL you have now? Thanks to all and goodnight.

All car comparisons need to be Car Talk. Since we can't move threads there, please feel free to restart the discussion in the appropriate forum. Thanks and good luck with your decision.
