Eyelids/Eyebrows
I got bored after work today and thought I'd buy some fiberglass and some resin. Thought I'd attempt to make some eyelids out of the FG rather than vinyl [what my friend put on for me]. Some folks here used rockblocker or bat's headlight tint and followed the 'top-line'... I personally like something more aggressive and not so 'sleepy' looking. So thought I'd share with you guys what I came up with.

The one shown is more of a 'test' to see how to use fiberglass and resin... and a dremel [the cut-off-wheel broke twice on me; thought I died]. I half painted it... But I didn't sand it down [since it's just a test].

A rough cheesy idea of how it'll look on the headlight ...
![](http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc253/KomodoTGC/Projects/DSC00458-1-1.jpg)
Some folks don't like eyelids/brows but I'm all [almost] all for it =]
Currently trying to get a way to make the FG curve around the edges of the headlight without removing the headlight so it doesn't look like it's just slapped on there. [this would be true for me since for some reason my headlight is not flush with my fender/bumper/grill lines]

Keep us posted for sure, eventhough i'm not a big fan of the "eyelid/brow" thing (my opinion), i'm still interested in seeing what this'll turn out to. Give you props in trying this, good luck!

I'm lost..
There's a picture of a black and silver TL on ronjon's website (see wallpapers) with eyelids on em. Those would be the only ones I'd ever consider putting on my car. All others make the car look sleepy, not aggressive.

Actually, it's more like 60-75% of the Fog/DRL is blocked [I have DRLs so it doesn't bother me]. But part of the eyelid does cover a small portion of the projector since that is the area where the curve starts diminishing into a straight line... In terms of lighting it appears that no output was lost when I test fitted with tape.
The one shown was only a test anyway... I'm going to be taking my time this week to try to get it perfect.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of eyelids but they are sleepy looking... When I test fitted the 'test eyelid' onto the driver's headlight it looked very aggressive! Especially with my concentrated-tiger-piss-DRL!
I'll probably get them professionally painted to match the car along with the Type-S Decklid spoiler I got from ililiililililililililililililililililililil......W ell, with less "il".
I like the look of the ones you posted, I might go and make those after as well hahah.
It's alright! No need to be sorry!! Everyone has their own opinions and I do understand that eyelids/eyebrows aren't for everyone.

Is it the same procedure when working with CF as it is with FG?
Hah I'm glad you like Canada! I actually live in Kitchener just for school, I'll be moving out to another City by summer 2k9.
I went to the states before... Detroit Michigan [I used to live in Windsor]. All I can say is.. well, the area I drove in was... run down. But the stadium or something I was at for the car show was sick as hell! I'd like to visit other areas of the States... maybe NY since it's close to Montreal [family lives there].. or Buffolo.
Actually I went to Seattle a few times... great city! I lived in vancity at the time... I remember that we received tremors from Seattle too. scary stuff.
We don't really have a lot of newer tuned cars here..
But I've spotted 2 NSX [one lightly modified], 4 R32 Skylines, an S14 converted 240sx... and some rice-burners. Like this really riced out silver civic with the banner 'THE SILVER BULLET' on top the windshield.. he was next to me. Hahah he tried to race me and I was thinking in my head "Maybe I should show him what a silver bullet would be like." But the better side got me and I just drove normally.
Thanks!! I appreciate it! I'm getting pumped to make the final version!

I actually made eyelids & eyebrows for my Passat from the 90 deg plastiv corner packing that came on a fridge. First made the patteren from kraft paper then cut the plastic on the band saw and sanded then sprayed .. I attavhed them with 3M double sided foam tape and they were on for 2 years till I sold it .. couple of sustained 75 MPH runs in there too.

i just bought vinyl to wrap on the lights im giving up on the eyelids theres no way to bracket them and hold them down....double sided tape is shit so i wouldnt be sticking it down to the headlight to even attempt it.

If you clean both surfaces with rubbing alcohol prior to putting the tape on it will hold without a problem unless your trying to bond too stiff a material to the curve of the headlights.

dude trust me i know what to do ive been around this stuff my whole life and i just spent a ton of money to go to school for all car mods people want to do .....double sided tape will not work against weather or speed. mine ripped right off the car. i tried using 3m and wurth.....the 2 best products used....they ripped right off. after the first set came off i made another. using wurths dbl tape i put them on again....they still ripped off...the only thing i foudn to make it hold is 3m adhesion promoter....its like cement when its sticks on....im not ruining my headlight lens for eyelids though.

Here's a better idea of what the eyelids MAY look like...
I was bored in class so I drew a 1 minute quick mock up of what I'm making

I didn't have an orangy highlighter for the amber-signals...

there isn't anyplace where you can buy eyelids, you can get vinyl or have someone paint them on the headlight, even then I've never seen anyone have ones like the ronjon wallpaper.

im pretty sure the grills are photoshopped.....the eyelids i tried out of silver vinyl as well but very hard to do if you dont take the lights off the car. half way down on the lens is perfect if you ask me.... theres no interference from the vinyl or eyelid with the light.

My buddy put vinyl on my eyelids... and It's not bad. The only problem is that my headlights get really hot---thus it caused the eyelids to bubble. Yuck.
I finally got time to work on the eyelids. Actually, I'm finished with the eyelids... I'm in the process of painting them now. I just, unfortunately, made the mistake of painting them outside----now the paint looks like it is frost. I'm going to have to repaint it tonight ... probably try in the garage this time.

Like I said in my previous post, the one on RJ's wallpaper is easier to make than the one I fab'd up for myself. I can make them no problem..
It's just a little time consuming and makes my garage smell like heck.
However, school's almost out for me thus... more free time =]
