Extended Warranty Issues for 2004 TL

Hi Guys,

Need some advice. Back in March of 2004, I bought a new TL and purchased the extended warranty (7 yrs/ 100K miles) for $1700. Yeah, I overpaid but at the time, I wasn't plugged into this site. Anyway, the dealership (Oakland Acura), never processed the paperwork. I only found out that my warranty was not in effect after being told by Acura Care that my car was not on their system. The dealership is willing to refund the full amount. My question is, should I force the issue and make them honor the contract? It wasn't my fuck up! Or do I take the money back, and purchase another warranty from some other dealership at a lower price. I have less than 25K miles on my car. No issues so far...knock on wood!

Anyone have any suggestions on what sort of coverage is available out there for me?

My car has treated me well, with no major issues. Just want the peace of mind of having that additional coverage.

Thanks!

Sal

i might be a lil confused but i think you answered your own question? so you know 1700 is overpriced for it and youre saying they're willing to refund the full amount. you also said you can take that money and buy the same warranty somewhere else for less.

do that

Thanks Ecliptics,

I have a feeling that getting my money back may be the more likely option. My concern is that I still would like to have some sort of extended warranty. But since my car is not a new car, how much will Acura charge me? Was wondering what sort of prices people are paying out there for an extended warranty on an '04 with low mileage.

This is a relatively simple car, i.e. No Awd, no turbo, If you can pass on the warranty period and invest the $1700 in a bond or a good mutual fund, you might be better off lol...

Thanks Solara,

I might just do that. Been calling around the other dealerships and they're asking for $2,700+ to extend my warranty. FUNK THAT! In any case, if anyone has any dealership contacts in the SF Bay Area that's honest and willing to work out a deal, please let me know.

Check online - Bernardi, Curry, Hondacuraworld. I think they are still selling ESPs online. I paid $1300, $0 deductible, for 5 years 84K miles a couple of months ago. I believe in ESPs if you are going to keep the car a while....
