Experience with fixing '04 Headliner?

I am very aware of the 2004 TL having a tendency to have a sagging headliner. Guess what - I am a victim as well. I have looked around on the forum and haven't really seen anything that works. As a last ditch effort, I am reaching out to you all that have had success with replacing it because I haven't seen your post. What did you do? How much did it cost?

I read on the internet somewhere that you could simply use a steamer on the headliner and "revitalize" the glue in the tape. Honestly, I have no idea what to do. Spending lots of money to fix it would kill me since its a 12 year old car, but it also bugs the heck out of me. Is taking it off and applying new tape easy? Any tips or information is greatly appreciated.

Probably beating a dead horse with this thread, but I would really appreciate anything from you all.

Thanks!

Only way to truly fix your headliner is have it recovered, at my shop we are not the cheapest by any means and we charge $299. This involves removing your headliner from the car, removing all the old headliner and cleaning it down to the hard board and then spraying new glue and putting new headliner on.

That's what I feared. Have you seen any cheap fixes that worked better than others? I am not really wanting to spend hundreds of dollars on the headliner.

noyhing really, the foam backing that is attached to the material is starting to deteriorate and will just get worse. I have seen a lot of "fixes" staples and straight pins which will hold it up but look tacky.
