Expected delivery mileage???

I am in the process of getting my TL on Saturday and the dealer told me it arrived there yesterday (Monday) I have to wait a few more days for the delivery to take place and I am concerned I'm gonna end up with the car having more the 5 miles on it..

Has anyone experencied this issue or what do you think is reasonable to see more mileage..

I mean for cryin out loud I had to order the car...

Welcome to the forum

If you super care about <5 mileage, go there and ask to show the car for you, check it right away.

Or, call your salesmane and WARN him of no-test-drive at all.

Well, IMO, dealers used to spend 1-3 days to clean and prepare your car. The "good" dealers are supposed not to let anyone drive "already-sold" vehicles.

Brand new car like that (yours is from Plant directly, right?) should have less than 5 mileage.

I think I was lucky because I did not order my car and I got it with 8 miles on it. It arrived just a few days before I purchased it.

Got my 04 with 3 miles, but my TL-S w/ 32 miles. If the car comes from another dealer, it may have a few more than 5 miles........

Mine had 80 miles on it. It had came from another dealer, and had been on the lot for a week. A few test drives I think. Ugh. I didn't know this until after I signed everything. I hate to think about all those joyrides on an un-broken-in car.

when i bought my 03 i told the dealer that i would not pick up the car if it had more than 10kms on it... lucky for me they had exactly what i wanted on the lot and when i picked her up she only had 4kms on it.... so i was happy....

Under ten miles may be hard to do! Remember they unload the car ,then do the prep service, then run it thru the wash area, then gas it and all most always the Ser. tech will test it fully

A pre sold auto "should see NO test drives"........that's what the salesmen will tell you. Mine had eight miles on it. The salesmen said I was the first "test driver"

Mine had about 100 miles on it when I bought it, but most all of them were mine. I took it out for a short 10 mile test drive, then went back the next day and took it for about an 80 mile test drive, and then bought it. So I knew who put most of the miles on it when I picked it up.

I took one for the weekend and test drove it to see if I liked it!! Then again, it had 10k miles on it. VERY HARD MILES I might add.

When I spoke to a dealer last week about this, I said that I would only accept a car with < 10 miles on it. He didn't even blink at that. He just wrote it down and said OK. I think if you make it part of your negotiation, you can be in a much stronger position with respect to this. In other words, it isn't an unreasonable request as long as you make it *before* the dealer (and you) has gone to a lot of work to get you the car.

I got mine with about 16 miles on it, 14 of which I took it on a test drive the day it got off the truck. I picked it up 1 week later, still with 16 miles on it. After I signed all the paperwork agreeing to pick up the car in a week my salesman literally parked it in the back of the lot with a big 'SOLD' sticker on it so no one gets '6MT' happy in it before I picked it up. I love the car and cannot find enough reasons to drive it.

My deal was made, literally, over the phone, but it was one that the dealer had just received. It was delivered to my home with 4 miles on the Odometer. Not bad, considering that the dealership is 180 miles from my house!

I just ordered one and said I want one straight from the factory with minimum miles. It is expected in mid-October. If it has more than a few miles I will wait for the next one. I ordered a car years ago when they used to try to get you to undercoat the car. After waiting five months and saying no undercoating the salesman called and said they made a mistake and undercoated my car. My response was no you didn't, you undercoated someone else's car-I'll wait another five months. Same here-if the car has miles-I'll wait. I am a pain in the ass when it comes to this stuff. By the way, when I first test drove the TL about 8 months ago-the car I drove had about 5 miles on it an the salesman told me to gun it. I had too much respect for the machinery and did not but that tells me I want one with low miles.

for a A/T, the computer will not let you over rev. if you are talking about crashing it, a quarter mile is plenty

Bought mine the day after it came off the truck at the dealer...still had the protective coverings on it when they pulled it into the service drive for me to look over. It had 14 miles on it when I picked it up three days later. Almost 2500 miles later I'm still in love.

I talked to a guy at Honda and he said that if it has more than 5 miles on it, it usually means the guys at the factory took it for a joy ride with 5 hookers and had sex in it. Then the whole management team gets in it and rubs their bare asses in the seats.

Mine had 1 Mile on it. Very happy with the delivery, dealer even kept interior plastic on until last moment. Hate it when they take it off early and let dust/dirt accumulate.

Picked my new car up last Wednesday. 12 miles on it. Drove it off of the showroom floor. I didn't even test drive it before I signed papers. This was absolutely a first for me....

I test drove camry, maxima. accord - then went straight to acura, signed all the papers and "test drove" the car 3 weeks later. I still drive it like I am testing it

- Absolutely LOVE the car !

I got my TL 2 weeks ago with 8 miles on it. It was still "shrink wrapped" when we bought it and picked it up the next day.

The car that the TL replaced was a 2002 Accord EX-V6. It had exactly 2.2 miles on it when I drove it off the lot back in August 2001.

So I guess that means that you aren't giving it the proper break in period for the engine?

92 miles. It had to be driven from another dealer. In retrospect, I should have insisted that they flatbed truck it.
