Everyone wants to race?!?
I know it has been said before on this forum but lately it seems like whenever I pull up to a light someone wants to race... or at least try to beat the TL off the line.
It's stupid people though. SUVs, Trucks, Civics... hell.. even a Caddy the other day. WTF? I mean don't get me wrong some trucks are pretty quick off the line ( for all of 3 seconds ) but it is getting old now. Maybe I just notice it more or something.. I dunno. Anyone else feel like this? Hope this crap doesn't continue into the summer.

Yup happens, today coming from college, I took different route to home so I met silvarado, civic, s-10, celica and all wanted to race.
But I want to race with real stuff, like bmw, lexus, infiniti....

A Cadillac CTS cut me on the freeway and taunted me to race it. I was very tempted. Thank god i didn't floor it cause he got pulled over right as i was about to slam the gas and get in front of it to get it back.

Phear the Civic?
These "kids" really making them put out some HP? I just thought they made a lot of noise with those large exhaust pipes, racing stripe, and oversized spoiler.

There is no way you can drive slow in the TL.
I was doing 90 on the way home today and didn't even realize it (thought I was doing 75).
Around-Town driving you blink and you're doing 45 in a 25.. so easy to do. Maybe thats what I get for focusing on the road instead of talking on the cell phone like most people do.

I don't think its the cell phone... I think it just happens because with all those horeses you can do it with so little effort... and once your used to 70, 50 feels like 30 etc...
I will not race people off the line... I didn't buy the car to race and piss off a cop that may be lurking...
However, if I need to make a lane change this car makes it EASY... especially off the line because youc an usually cut in front of someone before they even gas up...

I've noticed it a little with the TL.
Just imagine how I feel when I'm in my ZR-1 and some punk in an Integra pulls up and revs his fart can muffler at me with a giant 3 foot wing on his trunk:lol2:

A few people tried to explain to him that my car has run far faster than his as they have seen both run. His back peddling ended with him saying I had to run with my street tires, I had no problem with that since they were broke in M&H's.
We both hand over whatever cash we have on us to a friend and head up to the line. After about an hour of waiting to get up to the line we ask the staging guy if he can pair us up, they do and up to the line we go.
He obliterates his tires to warm them up and I do a couple of good dry hops, M&H's don't need monster burn outs.
We pull up to the line, stage and down come the lights and off we go, end result, he ran 12.8@112 and I cracked a best for the day 11.45@124. Needless to say he was upset, after all my engine looked mostly stock (his mistake on judging it that way).
The very next race I got my ass handed to me by an Integra running 10's and that sucker looked stock with the hood down save for the tires he was running.
Most times I can't stand "ricers" or that throw all the wings and crap on the car but it still runs 18's but how cool am I attitude, but that Integra wasn't like that so my hat went off to him.

The non-street legal drag civics are running 10s and 11s or less, not 14s. There are plenty of street legal civics and integras out there running 13s and 14s. Not so many in Wisco, mind you, but if you don't believe me you should take a trip down to Union Grove(Kenosha) and check out Great Lakes Dragaway.

I wouldn't call it street racing..such a dirty word. :P
I would call it an "Abbreviated Route Encounter"
I know all you 6MT people will bash me.. but I love the E-Shifter.. lot of fun to play with. It just makes you want to zip around all day.

E-Shifter, Techtronic, sport shift, auto-stick, whatever you call it (fake shifter thingy)

They may gesture, roll down the window, or light up the blue light to you... Or try to block your car to make you angry...

I don't know what gets into some of these guys heads thinking their Z's or Vipers are invincible. I will say this however about my Z, it isn't stock, I'm a pretty good driver, and the only way one of these fools with a 3 foot wing and fart can will ever beat me is if they are on the bottle. For the most part, I don't even waste my time with them because it isn't worth it.
At least you made some coin off of your arrogant opponent(assuming this isn't just a Rustang beats a Vette story you dreamed up.

Well his first mistake was assuming you didn't have anything to back up your desire to race. Second, for him to be running in the 12's he was pretty much stock and not a good driver to begin with.

Anyway, back to the subject, which is to say that the new TL will get challenges based on people reading about the HP increase and wanting to test us out. I obviously don't own it to race, but the power is still welcome considering it is a sports sedan.
