Sometimes when I first start my 2005 TL I hear a popping sound. Sounds like its coming from the engine area.

Anybody else hear a popping sound?

It does the same on mine. I read in the Forum somewhere that this is from the engagement of the ABS so it is normal.

 

If set in "Auto" climate mode, the A/C compressor will start about 2 seconds after the engne, sometimes with an audible clunk.

 

there is a "grinding" noise/vibration that can be felt mostly near your right foot usually w/in 10 seconds or 20ft of starting to roll forward. this is normal. it is the ABS brake pump cycling. there are multiple threads regarding this. try the 3g garage...


when does your popping sound occur? (cold-start, after idling for several minutes, while driving a certain speed????)
why are you under the impression that it is an engine sound? does it change frequency when engine speed changes? does it only happen when siting still w/ the engine running?

we need more details to diagnose your vehicle over the net!

It is normal SpiderWayne, that is the sound of Acura TL ABS engaging itself. Usually happens when a car is rolling about 5 to 10mph.
