Engine Noise

When I first got the TL, the engine was so quiet I had problems shifting properly. It now has about 1200 old-lady miles on it and the engine is much much louder, even when ideling. I have not beat up on the car at all, the fastest I've had it up to was 90MPH and that was on the HWY. The RPM's have not been over 5000 (wanted to feel the vtech a bit)

I read some posts on here where TLs with 2K plus miles are still quiet. Should I take it in to the dealer, or just wait to see what happens?

I know the engine will probably get louder with time, but it seems to have happened quickly.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick response. I don't think it's an exhast leak but it's possible. It sounds like a rythmic sound coming from the engine compartment, rather than underneath the car. When I say rythmic, I mean that it's a constant repeating sound. Hard to actually explain in words, and there's no way I'll imitate the sound for the dealer when I bring it in!

If its an internal engine noise, the most common issue may be that the valves need adjustment. Most of the time this is only required once at 30K miles or so but yours could be louder than most. If it is significantly louder than when purchased definitely allow the service guys to listen to it.

Yeah, it's louder at idle and louder when driving. I'll have the guys take a look. Thanks
