Engine Idle Problem

1) when my TL is cold (65-70F) and i start it, if i hold the tach at 1200 rpm i get a rough idle. considering the whole thing is computer controlled i would not expect this.

2) after the car comes up to temp and then i park it, starting it takes lots of cranks.

my TL is a AT with only 1620 miles on it.

anyone else experiencing issues like this ???

Why would you hold the tach at 1200 rpm?

the engine should run smooth at all rpm's, i just noticed a engine vibration as the revs came down, so i tested the engined holding idle at various rpm's, at 1200 it runs rough.

Maybe because the engine is warming up, but it should feel different when it is actually in drive. I wouldn't rev up the engine while its warming up.

If you experience starting takes a long time its due to the ULEV system. Its mentioned in the forum.

I used to have to crank the engine 3-4 times sometimes to get it to start, what a bummer.

If you are indeed facing the ULEV problem, then there is no fix. It is even mentioned in the manual that the TL can be fickle with starting because of Honda trying to reduce emissions. I'll look for some threads for you.

And yes, I concur with your observation that the engine can seem a little rough at that rpm. I have the 6MT, but I have felt it if I rev the engine (in neutral) and as the revs pass through that range on its way down, there is some vibration.
