This is the End.....

I quote Jim Morrison.....This is the End

I learned a lot about "mechanicin" here and had many questions answered. Struts, calipers, rotors, control arms, camber kit, sway bars, tune ups, seafoam....the list goes on and on.......but i test drove a rocket last week and had to buy it. Thankfully since this forum and I have kept the TL running so well it served as my down payment on the 6spd G35

Good luck to everyone here......anyone wanna race??????

First thing i did on the test drive was stop at a wal-mart parking lot, turn off the VDC and spun some doughnuts! Haven't done that since high school

Nice car but you'll probably find out the hard way it's not a rocket nor is it remotely fast.

Good luck with it. The G-35 is a cool car.

I sold my Infiniti to buy my TL-S because the Infiniti was killing me with maintenance. It was literally falling apart--leaks, failures, malfunctions.

I hope you have more luck than I did with my Infiniti. I had to flee back to a Honda product. While the TL isn't perfect, it's still a Honda.

Enjoy!

Congrats on the car! You mentioning doing doughnuts in a parking lot reminds me of an old thread I saw here on Azine. It was a troll thread where a high school kid was complaining that his VSA was dysfunctional and how he clipped an old rusty pickup truck. It was a good read, real or not.

I love that damn exhaust note. Girlfriend has a G37 and it's fun to drive. Lots of pep. I imagine the G35 to be similar.

MPG won't get to him because he's upgrading from a 3.2 to a 3.5. The most you'll lose is like a mile on both city and hwy. Now if he upgraded to something with 8 cylinders....

The 2 people I know that have a G35 both say gas mileage sucks especially city (which can be expected for any car) but in my 3.2 I average about 16-18 city whereas the other 2 people with the G35 (03 and a 06 model) say they average about 12-14 city.

One of them does have a lead foot so that's understandable, but the other one is my friends dad and he definitely never hauls ass anywhere.

My dad has a 08 EX35 and he only averages between 18-22 mpg and that's majority highway driving...

Engine size doesn't necessary negate gas mileage. Newer mustang 5.0's get 25mpg... The gearing on the g35 my friend has is SO SHORT. 80 mph at a little over 3k rpm? Yea.

But to O.P, congrats on the purchase. I too am surprised you went from a sedan to a coupe but if you can handle it then more power to you

Nice. I was looking at the 2007 refreshed 6MT G35 sedan when i was shopping for a car but it was out of my price range, and the mpg wasnt as good. GL with the car.

TL might be just as fast, but you can't do this with it (namely the RWD pivot at the beginning. gg forum double glitch):

LOL very well said!! I was thinking the same. I think he is gonna find out the hard way that his new car isnt anything remotely fast especially in todays standards. I have never been a fan of the G35's myself, but im glad your happy with the new car.
I would be more than happy to race you in my Type S. It wouldnt be anything special except two relatively slow V6 powered cars going at it haha, or maybe you wanna race the Z06 so I can make it look like your going in reverse ;-)

Why not? Other than a very slight slide in the beginning, that driver did nothing special. The G35 definitely won't out handle a TL. The TL will never be as fun as a RWD car though. I've spent the last few days going sideways in my friends new Grand National teaching him his to drive it and its enough fun that the TL is likely going to be retired to an out if town commute car. New daily driver on the way.

Agreed, I wish the TL weren't tuned like the Honda 4 bangers. Lose a couple hp up top for a little more lower end power for people like me that use them to get from point a to point b and don't want to rev to 5k just to scoot around in traffic. I guess I'm missing the large engines or very responsive turbo engines. Lately I'm being pushed away from the TL as my daily and back to my turbo car with 620lbs at the wheels at 2,900rpm. Probably a large reason the manual TLs are so much quicker is the powerband. I've been missing the power a lot lately.

I love driving my dad's G35 even though it's an automatic. The TL feels huge and sluggish after driving that thing.
