A couple of thoughts/comments:
- Not all states have what is deemed a "Salvage Title"
- My understanding is, if you already own the car and have title to it, fetching it back from a wrecking yard after it was "Totaled" does not suddenly change the title to a salvage title as the car was never reported to the state as totaled.

At this point I would cut losses and take the money. I know that is hard to do, but you have to think about all of the time and energy you will put into either fixing it or parting it out. If you are mechanically advanced with time on your hands go for it. Otherwise take the money and get into something else. Step up another $7000 and get into a 6th gen 535 doesn't sound too bad to me.
Before it was a no brainer to buy it back at that low price and them not giving you anything. Either way it will hurt a little, but one way involves a lot of work and effort. The other involves some money and a newer car.
Another thing if you fix it is getting the brackets to sit right and getting all of the trim pieces below the car and in the engine bay. It's just all the little things that add up in price and time delays.

Joe, walk away.
You were already on the fence about a new car for the last few years.
Take this as a sign that it was time to move one. $5000 is a nice down payment on your next lightly used luxury car.
Go test drive an S4.
I'm contemplating selling off some of mine for one, believe it or not.
I know sentiment and practicality rule for you, but if your'e in a financial position to do so. Just let it go...the headaches that pop up, mismatched paint work, misaligned panels, maybe some electrical gremlins from being jarred, maybe this, maybe that and at the end of the day...she's a polished turd and not the classic honda you had maintained so well. Sucks to say it, but goodbye.
ONLY way I'd say buy back is if you feel like parting it and then junking shell but you'll be dealing with craigslist and flakes and bs to score another grand or 2...and as they say for a family man especially...time is money.

Well to answer my original question- this is the end.
I've decided to walk away. Body shop guy recommends as well.
On to car shopping.....

There are two Accord Sports in manual in FloriDUH currently and the dealer took a little over 4K off MSRP on either one of my choice. One is black the other is white.

Acura dealers are literally on crack with their asking prices for the SHAWD ASPEC. I've received quotes (leases)on the RedSport, GS 350 F Package and Audi A4 2.0 Quattro (manual) that are either lower than what Acura has quoted or about the same price and we all know those cars eclipse the TLX in many ways.

Crackura would actually explain the transition from attractive vehicles to freak-beak corporate design, and then to this pentagon gape-mouth thing.
GS is crack free thankfully. That's a sound choice.

Forgot to add that I've also worked a deal on an MB E300 that is about the same price as a TLX If Acura actually was aggressive with their prices, I would have strongly considered it as I do think the MMC is decent (ASPEC SHAWD model only).
Im all over the damn place with choices.

The MMC GS350 F sport looks really sharp and so their price.

There's only two Acura cars I'm interested in that are new right now. Fully loaded RLX, and any NSX, and both are way way way out of my budget. 3G TL is a really freaking hard car to beat, it's a tough decision. If you are in the $20,000+ range there are plenty of good options. But if you are hard pressed and need something 10K and under it really is so freaking hard to beat. Lots of cars better than it at one thing, but I find the 3G is just soo middle of the diagram in every criteria. It's a great budget daily. Just avoid the 04-06 auto lol.

Don't know your budget, but the B9 A4 DCT is a worthy successor to the 3G TL. I love the damn thing. Only wish I would have gotten more options.

Basically the right leg has a permanent foot rest lol
Feels almost claustrophobic weirdly.
It's only on the AWD models so if you get RWD you'll be fine.

Did you test drive the A4 manual? Did you notice the quattro ultra?

Yes sir. I ended up driving the A4 2.0 Quattro in manual- loved it!! I don't believe it was an Ultra - I think it was a premium plus?
There were only a handful available in Florida and the dealers totally milked that fact leading to less than attractive deals to be had on them.
