Encounters with Stupidity while driving the TL?

I've been meaning to ask this of other TL Owners for awhile...I'm just wondering if it is just me or if others experience the same thing....

My question is this...When driving the TL, do you encounter people who just do the most stupid things around you?

And usually it's not when you are driving aggressively or trying to have some fun, but just driving normally (i.e. in a straight line) to our destination...

For instance, in the month and half of ownership this is just a sampling of the stupidity we have encountered:

-An Integra Type-R tailgating and weaving back and forth across two lanes during rush hour traffic wanting to race when we are going 5mph
-A WRX who was in the next lane and a little behind us decided to drive on the shoulder instead of merging in behind us when the two lanes merged into one lane so that he could stay 'ahead' of us.
-Countless number of cars such as Cavaliers, Integras, Civics, Peeling out as soon as the light turns green at the stop light.
-People that just don't want you to pass them so as you are steadily passing them at 70mph on the highway, they look over and just have to slam on the gas and accelerate up to 85-90mph and then slow down to 65 again, then do the same thing again as you slowly catch up a couple of minutes later...

Can't figure out what the hell is going on....I didn't even have this much crap to deal with when I was driving my old Mustang...Anybody else encounter this kind of stupidity?

I get this sort of thing quite a bit, but it also happened with my previous car. That was a boring 1994 626 sedan. I must drive in stealth mode, though. I frequently have people cut me off or pull out right in front of me. While I haven't had a hard stop in my TL (yet), I got to test the Mazda's ABS on several occasions as people seemed to not know I was there.

For some odd reason people driving Maxima's (particularly the 4th gen ones) always try to entice me to race them. I have to say it is pretty fun smoking them though.......

I had an Infiniti G35 that HAD to switch lanes to get in front of me. No one was in front of the G35 when it did this. After several miles, the G35 accelerated to stay ahead of me whenever it saw me coming from behind. What a wuss. How about pacing me at my side and then we could see how fast the G35 really is?

Some guy in in an 80s mazda hatchback was revvin his shit at a light, and looked over at me...I didn't really understand this, so I just let him go..I mean, there has to be some kind of challenge...

I also saw a boxster and an r32 racing today, was tempted...but my better judgement took over.

It suddenly started happening to me since I got mine. Never happens when I drive my MDX or my 745i. I thought it was just me. Lexus ES300, IS300, Accord, BMW 3series, 5series, and most of all, Infiniti g35.

I just want to get home after a long days work.

I use to never get that kind of annoying people around me..but lately there have been a few. There are those generic people who do the stupid crap in the previous posts. THere are also those guys in slow ass civics rolling back and forth at a stoplight trying to prove something to me...pretty funny..my dad laughed at one of them before HAHA

Well, you'r driving a moderately-high-horsepower sports sedan and there are folks out there who consider that a challenge in itself. Have not run into what you describe yet but it happens all the time in my other car - a stock 76 Corvette. Some jerk always wants to test his camero or civic against an old but pristine 'vette.

As for me, I only use the power of either car when entering a fast-moving highway or to "position" myself in traffic for a lane change or an exit.

The ones who want to race - I say scr--w 'em. Maybe I'm showing my age. They and their opinions mean nothing to me. Drag racing on city streets is stupid, IMHO.

Maybe it is just "localized" cells of small dicked wonders..... I have the, and aplolgizes to all here, "high school ricers" always wanting to show me what they have.... WTF.... I'm in my early fifties and I am usually driving on city streets with my two dogs in the back seat. Do I look like I want to race them? Over-abundance of testosterone levels I fear.

Orayakab,

Man, you are in the Bay Area, what do you expect?

I used to live in Queens NY and had spent time in DC area (Hell, I drove 6 years in Taiwan even), but I'd say the Bay Area drivers, as far as percentage goes, is the worst.

Most of the time you just have to let them go. I know in my heart that I can take most of them if I want to, and that's all.

After a long drive home on 880/680 in my TL, a cigar and a Gordon Biersch top the day off nicely..........

I encounter jackasses no matter what I'm driving.

Last month while driving the Acura I stopped at a light in the middle lane of a three lane road. I was the front car in the lane and had a rather short distance to move right to get onto an exit ramp, so I hit the throttle hard when the light changed. I signaled and made the lane change, but as I was doing so I heard someone on my left running HARD.

Turns out the dumbass in the new Audi A6 in the left lane saw me accelerate quickly and thought I wanted to play. I made the lane change to the exit ramp and slowed down as he flew south on Route 110 by the Southern State Parkway.

Regards,

My Fun

I love it when children in riced out civics or lexus pull up nezt to me at a stop light. They race their engine and I shift into neutral and blip the throttle enough for them to notice, then slip the lever back into drive. When the light turns green they peel out leaving a short trail of rubber, and I just mosey ahead at a slow pace. This strategy really pisses them off, which is very satisfying to me. Maybe I'm just mean.

To be quite honest with you, the only cars I get trying to race me are Acura TLs... yes our TLs...... most of the G35 coupe owners I see on the road drives pretty on the speed limit. They seem me, they smile at me instead of trying to race me... after all, they already know they're faster...

but the TL owners... 3rd gen... WTF..
