I wanted to make sure I knew where the emission testing computer plug is located in the interior so I do not have the emission test personnel getting dirty hand prints all over the parchment interior trying to find the plug.

I checked the owners’ manual and did not find where it is located and did not find it doing searches on the forums.

Have any 3rd TL owners had their cars emission tested and know where the computer plug is located?

I remember it is under the steering wheel, I think on the left lower side of the underside panel. My memory is vague on it, as it was almost 2 years ago when the dealer left it open after upgrading the computer on my car.

I am sure that Ron will be able to find a photo of it in the svc manual.

I found it on page 11-3, but it isn't worth copying. All it is is a drawing of the dashboard and steering wheel, and it shows the connector is under the left hand side of the panel like you said, but it is not very clear as to the exact position.

If you go straight down from the VSA switch and feel under the panel you will feel the connector. I thought maybe you had to remove the panel to get to it but you don't.

Found it underneath the lower left dash panel. Take your hand straight down from the Mirror button on the left hand side dash and go underneath the dash and you can feel the connector.

Hey guys, I know I'm reviving an old thread here but just wondering mine has a cover under by where the plug is and when I went to get my emission tested the guy took 10 mins trying to look for it and told me that it's under the cover so I need to take the cover out. Is there a DYI on this? Thanks!

You should see it without having to remove the cover.
