Emission System Error

I was sitting in the car with the engine idling waiting for my wife to shop. (I was there almost an hour). All of a sudden an error code came up and the engine idiot light came on.

"Emission System P0171"

Anyone know how serious this is? I checked the gas cap and it is on tight. If the light stays on, I will make an appointment for next week, but I just wanted to see if you guys had any information.

Maybe it didnt like idling that long and the cat got too warm.
You can reset the CEL and codes by removing the clock backup fuse or disconnecting the NEG battery cable for a few minutes.
Thats should reset everything. If not- warranty covers emission parts
Gas cap must be on 3 clicks or more

Dont reset, if its the first time, and you have the time, take it to the dealer and get it check, its ignoring the signs that causes big problems in the future.

actually, that code will be gone by the time you bring it to the dealer

winter fuel mixture causes that code to show... since december, i pull the code like once ever 2 or 3 weeks, and it goes away with in hours/days

other tl-s and hondas pull that code alot

if it keeps happened, thennn bring it to the dealer... chances are, they wont find anything wrong with your car...

It is not normal for a car to throw lean codes. It is also not a good idea to ignore check engine lights. If you are under warranty TAKE the car to be checked, after all, it won't cost you anything. Maybe you will actually get a good tech that can find out what is causing this problem for all the people on here that are having the same problem.

It seems to only affecting the 07 and 08 tls. My 04 has 81k on it and I have idled for extended periods of time and I have not had a cel.
