E85/93 Octane Mix

A co-worker of mine asked me the other day if I was able to run an E85/93 Octane mix in my Type-S. I didn't know how to answer his question. I did a little looking via Google and have not been able to come up with anything. He currently runs a 25% mix of E85 and 93 Octane fuel, safely, and says he can feel the difference. Do any of you know if this is possible with our engines, and is it safe? I will not try it, just was wondering.

Do not put E85 in the TL I have a buddy that has a base 08 TL and he used a mix of E85/93 and his fuel gauge sensor stopped working! Even though he says that the car performs better and seems to have more punch at full WOT I just don't think it worth it damaging vital system parts since the E85 is corrosive to our fuel system since it's not really designed for it.

the better way to get more power would be to mix 100 octane with 93.

I never planned on it, as I have heard bad things about E85 without the proper set up. Was just wondering so I could answer his question correctly without making something up!

do not use E85 unless the manufacture said it safe to do so, like someone said E85 can be corrosive to the fuel delivery system.

If it was flex fuel compatible the manufacturer would have stated it and the gas cap or door would also state it.

dont you also need to have your ecu mapped to specifically run e85.. i dont think its as easy as mixing the fuel and putting in our tanks

E85 will damage the TL Engine.

E85 has a "higher octane" put has 1/2 the energy per gallon of fuel compared to Regular E10 93 octane. This means your fuel system will have to supply 2x the fuel with a 100% E85 fill up. The TL's fuel system is A. Not designed for that much flow and B. Not designed for the highly corrosive properties of E85. Running it will starve the engine of fuel (lean condition) and may cause damage to the engine. Simply filling up with E85 may damage your fuel pump, fuel level sensor and fuel lines.

E85 and 93 mix works on Turbo/Supercharged Cars that can take advantage of the extra octane. If you don't have a tune nothing will happen. Buddy runs a mix of E85 and 93 in is 335 that's tuned with a map for it. If he doesn't switch to the map the car runs terribly.

Thanks for the feedback. As I stated before I was never going to run this mix in the car, just wanted to give my co-worker a solid answer. This thread may be useless and can be closed if you deem it should be. I received my answer, which I kind of assumed before asking.
