E-85 anyone?

Just wondering why no one has done an E-85 tune. Or I must be stupid and can't find any threads on it. Any comments or links pointing me in the right direction is appreciated.

You would have to get larger injectors and a AEM Fic plus a larger fuel pump. All to get worse mileage in the end. Now if the octane of that stuff is high enough and price/availability is favorable it might be worth the trouble. I don't know if we have any in Cali.

There's no advantage to running it on the TL. 40% worse mileage, the cost for injectors, pump, and whatever rubber components have to be upgraded. Limited availability.

The turbo TLs could take advantage but unless you're running a large shot of nitrous or boost there's no upsides, only downsides.

Typically the turbo cars I deal with will pick up 150+hp from E85 with a tune.

Sounds like 5 MPG to me. 85 miles to the tank, 65 til the gas light comes on. Then again if I'm brewin my own ethanol it might work out.

Jesus... you only get 65 miles before the light comes on? Must be DUMPING fuel in there. Never expected fuel consumption to spike that high when you force-fed our cars. I usually hit about 270-300 miles between my fills and I have yet to see the light come on.

Edit: Nevermind, I read that wrong and realized you are saying that you would be at 5 MPG with the ethanol loss

Oh I see, because my friend did an E-85 tune to his WRX and got some big gains. But the thing is that he is boosted. Thanks to you all for the replies.

Don't you have to change the fuel system?

I remember an instructor told me about Flex Fuel.

I know a lot of the corporate cars( chevy Malibu, impala ) are flex fuel but the mileage was 100 miles less to the tank that running it on reg fuel. I think they use better seals
able to withstand alcohol and huge injectors.
