Dumb question on fog lights

I ordered a bunch of lights from vleds over cyber monday, one of which was the LED DRLs, with the harness and resistors.

My question is I think we have the same bulbs for the fogs too, HB3, right? If so, do I also need the relay harness + resistors for full power, or are the fogs a direct plug and play?

I've searched all the lights, interior, reverse, DRLs and read god knows how many threads...I can't read any more threads my head's spinning...thx for the help!

Nope.. H8

https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/appli...el=2001&make=2 DRL is 9005.

If you wanted LED Fogs though, you COULD theoretically get an H8 light bulb but the problems with LEDs is that they don't provide much lumens/output, wouldn't be much use for fog lights except to look pretty, unless that's what you want, then go for it!

I wouldn't get leds for fog lights. Getting a hid kit would be better.

Fog lights are H8
DRLs are 9005

If using HIDs for fog lights it's recommended to use a relay harness just to be safe.

leds fogs prolly look good head on, but they'll put no light on ground. ive got a cheap hid kit that's like green and miscolored lol but its 10x more light than halogen.

What fogs are you running, DDMTuning?

Cool. I got the 9005/HB3 10 LED for DRLs, and vleds lists them as DRL/fogs, so I thought they were the same for both. Shoulda just checked my drivers manual duh

The fogs on the car now have a slight blue tint. I got the 5K DRLs, 5K switchbacks (1157, 42led), 5K reverse (921, 15led), 194s (6led 360+4led flank for trunk) and 74/2721s (5K 3led) for interior.

So even their CXA 2000LM LED H8s wouldnt be better than a reg H8? What H8 bulb should I get to match the 5K color? Not sure I want to spend that much for HIDs.

I don't understand. You're asking about the CXA 2,000 LUMEN leds that cost $119.99 but than you say "not sure I want to spend that much on HIDs"?

You can buy HIDs from DDM Tuning or HID Extra for less than $60 shipped. HIDs will produce over 3,000 lumens of light output which will outshine the CXA leds.

The HIDs you see on vleds website are Morimoto brand which are pretty expensive but supposed to be better quality. However it's cheaper buying Morimoto HIDs through their main website < www.TheRetrofitSource.com > because it comes with everything you need for $150 (includes the relay harness) whereas on vleds website you pay $150 for the hid kit +$30 extra for relay harness which adds up to $180...

I recently purchased 3 hid kits from DDMTuning (one for mom, brother, friend) and they all costed about $50-$55 Shipped each including the relay harness.

Just saying if you want HIDs than there are way more cheaper options than VLEDs

+1 on theretrofitsource. GREAT guys, great customer service, great quality products. At 120 bucks, I'd rather just get a Morimoto HID kit instead of the CXA LED. I'm a huge LED fan but some lights aren't just for looks, they're for function. If you don't care about quality, then shoot for the DDMTuning kit viet suggested and call it a day.

If you're REALLY fancy, you can do an entire projector retrofit for the fog lights (Actually something on my to-do list coming up soon) but let's not get ahead of ourselves now.

Cool thx for the info. I'll check out their website, maybe bite the bullet after the holidays.

No, I meant I was trying not to spend more than the $60 10led DRLs that i got for my DRLs, knowing that HIDs ran ~$150-$200. They have H8 versions for the fogs too. Others have mentioned that LEDs in general will only look good, but not produce enough light to function as a fog light - which I would want, so I was just curious to ask about the $120 leds, since they output 2000lms. Yeah, at that price I might as well go the distance and do HIDs, agreed.

Are there any regular H8 bulbs that you guys recommend? Or are those also pricey? Anyone know how many lumens a typical H8 puts out, for comparison?

How would you rate the DDMTuning HIDs on build quality and light output?

I don't know how many lumens the typical halogen H8 bulb outputs so I can't help you there. I'm actually pretty curious myself and I would imagine it would be about 1,500-2,000 lumens but that's just a guess. I have Hoen Endurance H8 fog light bulbs for my 08 TL. They are yellow tinted bulbs. Cheaper alternatives are Nokya yellows (can be had for less than $20 shipped on eBay)

As far as DDMTuning HID build quality and light output the only thing I can say is they do the job right. I've ordered more than a handful of HID kits through them since 2010 and have not had a problem with a single kit.

Bought one for my Isuzu, a friends 94 Lumina, a friends 94 Silverado, a friends 06 300C, my moms 07 Accord, and recently my brothers 09 Camry.

Also installed a DDM tuning kit on a friends 2010 Camaro

They usually cost about $50-$55 shipped including the relay harness and come with a "lifetime warranty". It's true that their customer service isn't the greatest, but at only $55/kit you can easily buy a second or third set and still paid less than $150 morimotos + shipping.

I'll upload pictures of before and after of my moms Accord.

I'm not saying DDM is better than Morimotos at all. I'm sure Morimotos are the only HID kits that are close to OEM quality, but for nearly 1/3 of the cost you can get DDMs which still do the job. I plan to get HIDs for my fog lights also and I really want to get Morimotos but it's going to be awhile before I can shell out that kind of money for fog lights. $50 is easier to swallow than $150+ but I still want morimotos...

FWIW I run DDM HID's on my 07 Sierra and wife's 05 Yukon.....highs, lows, and fogs on both rigs. Can't beat the price and much much better than factory halogens. I did have a ballast take a crap but they swapped it out since they are lifetime warranty. It did take awhile and had to be done through their website. If you want to call and get ahold of somebody forget about it.
And not running the wiring harness on any of those.

I suppose for $10 it's worth it if needed for the Acura?

For those running the HID H8 fogs on our TL's, where are you mounting your ballasts? I've searched and asked in other threads and haven't seen any pics or gotten an answer? That to me is the hardest thing to do is find a mounting location given the limitations of the wire lengths and room the ballasts can take up.
And what bulb is closest to our OEM headlights....the 6000? I think i read the oem headlight is about 4300 but these Kelvin #'s from different providers seem to run a different color depending?? vietxquangstah those fogs look a bit yellowish compared to the headlights??

By the way I'm just pricing a 35w kit with harness at $40 on their website
