Dual climate control question?

Quick question, how does your TL react to temperature changes between the driver and passanger? I noticed on my TL it varies the temperature by increasing and decreasing the fan speed for each zone. For example, when the driver temp is set to low and the passenger temp is set to 80, the climate control blows a fair amount of cold air out the driver's vent but blows barely any air out the passenger's vent to keep the temp warmer. I was curious because the TSX loaner I'm driving now does not work like this. It actually regulates the air temperature and not the amount of air it exhausts. The TSX is able to blow both cold and hot air simultaneously at the same fan speed. Is this normal for the TL or do I have a problem?

As I understand, the main difference between the TL and TSX climate control systems are that they are both dual zone, but the TL is dual mode, which means that the passenger side can have air blowing on their face while the driver side has air blowing on their feet. To my knowledge, there is only one fan and its speed is the same for both driver and passenger. I would suggest that you check to see if maybe in the TL it's diverting the warm air down to the feet, or try playing with the mode button. I'm willing to bet that you've got the same air flow on both sides, it's just being directed to different places. In general, cold air in the face make humans feel cool, hot air in the face make us feel uncomfortable, hence my suspicion that the heat is going to the floor. I'll check it out later and see what I find.

Nope that's not it... Both the driver and passenger modes are set to blow air out the main vents not the footwell or windshield. Thanks for the response though. Can anyone else chime in on the matter?

One fan; each side has its own diverter door that regulates the amount of air that goes through the heater core or the A/C evaporator so individual air temperature is regulated. The system also regulates the direction of the airflow on each side.
Information is from the maintenance manual

Ahh, the sweet smell of technology. Does the CC take outdoor temperature into account along with the light sensors in the dash?

Also, if you have the TL with Navi the navigation system and the climate control communicate with each other. The climate control system will automatically cool or heat the side of the car respective to the sun. I have noticed that my fan speed will change when turning.....love technology....

So it is possible for the TL to blow both hot and cold air out at the same time? I'm confused.

Does anyone know the temp difference it can maintain between the two areas? And what about vents in the rear, are there any(We don't have the car yet and I failed to notice during the test drive).
