It is pretty hard to see during the day... I guess that's why they are usually yellowish, but I hate the yellow look... ah o well...

i had them but one wasnt working. so i sent them back. VLEDS is awesome! awesome customer service. anyways i got confirmation from them that this harness does work. well i should know im running them now. but as i said it is not with the 68 SMTs. i was also running the Nokya yellow bulbs and they are great. with the 68 SMTs it should be really bright.

I just got my 68 SMT's in the mail and the harness. I will install today and take photos.

DNPhotography, which side did you plug in the resistor and which side did you plug in the bulbs? I'm thinking resistor in the pax side and bulbs in driver side.

Here is what I got from V-LED's

68-SMT LED 9005's. Looks to be well put together from what little I know.

Resistor for pax side light

DRL Harness

Driver side connection

The harness looked like it was pretty well made too. The only complaint I have is the connector for the passenger side, the wires move in and out of the female plug a little too easily and it was resulting in a lost connection. I jammed them all the way up in there and taped it up and it was all good.

So... lights before (sorry for teh terrible pic, but you all know what they look like )

Lights after - They look more blue in the photos than they are in real life.

With the flash on...looks a little more like this

I'll get some day time photos tomorrow. Install took all of 25 minutes, mostly because I was fighting with the pax side OEM bulb. Light output is equal from both side, and I got no DRL light on my dash

All in all, I'd say this was worth the $70 considering it's our only option.

And just to confirm for me ('cause I'm slow on these things): NO DRL dummy light, right?

Thanks. I'm going to have to get these, I think.

Same time as I get the flat 24 LED domes I guess.

Haha, thanks mglax!! Great pics and exactly what I've been looking for. I really do appreciate you slaving away in the cold! I'm gonna have to pick this up as well! V-leds ftw!

haha yeah thanks mglax13 for installing them in the cold! technically these would also work for HIDs as well.

hey rockyfeller, with this module you would be able to run an LED strip off the DRL's as well wouldn't you? Just like on the new Audi's??? I wanted to wire some LED strips to the DRL's but the DRL's only run at 6.4V, this will cure that I hope

I don't think this changed the voltage on the DRL's, it just makes the voltage distributed to each side even.

thanks for the input mglax, I'll just have to find another way to bump up the voltage for the DRL's so I can wire my LED strips into them.

Well if the 6.4V is enough to light up these 2 bulbs, then I'd think that maybe it's enough to light up the LED strips IF you only lit the LED strips and didn't light any bulbs. In that case, I probably wouldn't bother going with that specific harness from V-LED's. I think I'd do something similar with a resistor on the passenger side, and then splitting the power on the driver side.

mglax thanks for your help, I actually ordered the harness set so I can swap out my current DRL's. This set only comes with one harness and one resistor right? So maybe I could just run this http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/D...01806-1-3.html on the left side and run the other harness and resistor on the right so that I could have my DRL's and the LED strips lit.

That sounds good to me, but don't take my word for it becasue I don't know a whole lot about the electic system as it pertains to the DRL's. I'm just speculating. LED's require very little power to run, so who knows, it might work. Trial and error is my method of choice with these things...lol

Update to this thread. The harness works perfect, there is no DRL warning light on the dash, however the output of the actual 9005 LED DRLs is about half of what they should be. If you look at the output of the LED DRLs during the day, they are not very bright at all. They seem to be quite a bit dimmer than the oem 9005 bulbs.

I spoke with Jake and he said purchasing the plug-n-play 9005 in-line DRL module and installing one on the harness side will yield a full 14.5v to the LED DRLs. I'll post some pics when I get this.

The original DRL via V-LED that were available...showed the same characteristics of brightness in the beginning...after two weeks of riding with them...they die...and are no longer as bright as before... I think it would work better if the DRL produced a nice yellow output or a deep yellow like Hoen Endurance bulbs.

I'm a skeptic... I need to rethink making another $50 commitment. To people who have them right now, please continue to post your updates. Thank you.

I bought a set of these for my wife's 2009 Honda Pilot and all they did was keep blowing the DRL fuses. I even brought the fuse up to a 20A and it still blew them. I guess they look great if you can get them to work.

very true. i had these on for a few days then changed them back to my Nokias because i wasnt happy with the output. but i didnt try using the plug and play harness (which i have). ill give that a try today.

so with this plug and play module, you do not need to have the load resistor for the module above correct?

Keep us updated, I'd love to see how this works. I noticed too that the LED's aren't super bright during the day as well. If I look at it head on, I can see the reflection of the LED's in the reflector part as individual dots, so I always assumed that it wasn't bright due to the fact that it was day time. If this will boost the voltage and make it really light up, then that would be awesome!

Just out of curiousity (I have no electronics knowledge), how can you just step up the voltage like that? Wouldn't it require more power coming from somewhere?

how come my harnesses are so much smaller then the ones that you guys have? the ones i have don't work either, they came with a harness with like a mini ballast on the end of it i don't know how to even describe it.

Ok so I received the 9005 in-line module and plugged it into the harness side and the DRL LED output actually DECREASED by about 2x. So in short, it doesn't work. The standard harness is about as much power as you're gonna get for the LED DRLs at this time. Sucks! I guess i'll be going back to my Nokya yellows.

You are referring to the in-line modules. The harness is this....

Can someone please help me? I have an 05 TL, with 07-08 type-s headlight. I also have the DRL module that i bought from autobarn.com. I want to get the 9005 DRL LED(amber), do i need to get the 9005 DRL WIRING HARNESS + RESISTOR or the 9005 PLUG N' PLAY DRL DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT MODULE to make it work?
thanks.
