DRL Question

I have an 05 and im putting in 07 type S headlights. I want to know, what do I have to do for the DRL not to melt. I have to get a 9005 bulb, harness, and splice it in where the 9006 bulb was, but Im aware that DRL in the newer models run at a lower voltage. So what do I need not to melt it?

9005 and 9006 plug up to the same harness.
No need for splicing or anything... just buy new bulbs.

If you want to ensure that your DRL bezel does not melt you could invest in a DRL kit.
If not... wrap that DRL bezel in CF or something??? 8-)

any other options? Or do I have to get LED bulbs? And 9005 and 9006 bulbs are different in where it plugs in. but I was already told if you file down something on the inside, it will fit.

I think it plugs in just fine.
I once bought 9006 instead of 9005 and it plugged in just fine. The only issue was that the tabs were facing the opposite direction so they wouldn't fit into a 9005 housing.

You could get LED bulbs. There has been issues with them not running fully or DRL lights coming up in the dash.
I don't remember who... but someone fixed that issue and had their LEDs running at full power.
Hopefully if they see this then they can chime in.

I won't have that problem being that I have an 05 (my current headlights have integrated fogs). i will have the full 12 volts running at that harness. I just want to avoid melting the housing.

Yeah, I was aware of your vehicle having the fogs.
Just wasn't sure if the LEDs still cut some power or not.

LEDs run much much cooler than halogens. LED bulbs may be your safest route.

You could put a Coors Light beer can in there too and if the mountains aren't blue, then you're screwed (the housing isn't as cold as the Rockies). Either that, or I'm on crack.
