DRL Fitment

Guys...what is the buld type for the DRLs on an 08 TL? Ar there bulbs that are brighter? I searched but only came up with guys having issues with LEDs...I don't want issues, I jus want brighter. Thanks in advance!

Save this website to your bookmarks. It has all (I should say most) bulb sizes for all vehicles.

It says 9005. But also list the high beam as 9005 too which is wrong. 3G TL's are bi-xenon. BTW does anyone know if the DRL's serve as double-duty purpose for flashing and not just a safety feature?

It's a DRL/high beam and yes 3G TL is bi xenon. The 05-06 model, the high beam for that year are meant as foglight and still bi xenon. But the 07-08. foglight are on the bumper grill. So technically the highbeam are for DRL.

Here you go http://www.jlclightings.com/9005-LED...-p/sku_066.htm get the 68smd.

Someone already compared the stocks/leds and this one. By far this is the brightest ones I have seen. Also comes with the decoder kit which won't give you an error on ur dash. If someone remembers the link help this guy out.

joeytheswede, thank you for posting the link from the 3G Garage.

OP- remember when I posted this in your other thread?

I will kindly remind you again to not create threads without looking in the 3G Service Department first.

Ok...so the DRL and high beam are te same bulb, is the power reduced to the bulb for DRL purposes? Is that why it isn't very bright as a DRL?

No, they're not the same bulb from a functional stand point. The inner fixture is a classic "reflector" style fixture. It houses a 9005 bulb. If you look at it in the daytime, you'll see the orientation of the bulb is skewed (not centered) so the majority of the light reflects down. 9005 bulbs are used in traditional lighting as high-beams, but again, the reflector is situated differently so the light reflects higher.

The functional high-beam is in the projector. It's a bi-xenon projector which means there's a piece within the projector that covers the high range of the light. When you turn your high-beams on, a solenoid activates the cover and allows the upper range out so the "High-beam" is usable.

In the 07-08, the only use for the inner fixture is the DRL.

@ggesq...I just looked through the garage lighting threads and did not find an answer to my question which was are there brighter bulbs for my 08 DRLs, there are references to DRLs but nothing specific to my question...so the question remains...oh and yes, I remember you telling me not to start a new tread before looking, which I did before I started this thread...I didn't find an answer then and haven't found one today.
