Angry Driver Side Rattle

Hey, guys. I have an intermittent rattle that is coming from somewhere on the driver's door. Sometimes it seems that it is coming from the map compartment, sometimes from the lock. I can't pinpoint it. It is frustrating. The dealer refuses to fix it until I can replicate the problem while driving with one of their mechanics. Of course the problem is intermittent, so it never rattles with them in the car.

Has anyone had any rattles from the driver's door? Can you tell me what was rattling? Thanks.

I also have the same rattle in the drivers door, will go away if I push or pull on the door panel.... I also have one in either/or the B pillar and rear door... I plan to attack them myself when the TX weather improves.... I need to get the wife or a friend to drive so I can sit in the back seat and figure the location out...

Did I say let someone else drive my TL?????

Let me know what you guys figure out.

I had a problem where the door actually latches on to the B pillar. The dealer adjusted and now its gone.

I have the same rattle noise on the passenger side. Today I figured it out that the noise was coming from the top rear right side passenger hand held. Didn't fix it yet, but iam gonna try doing it myself.. doesnt look so hard. So, maybe urs is from there too.. good luck.

B pillar, yes, I do, but it's minor. In my case, if I move seatbelt to the top, I got no more rattle...

Driver side door panel/handle, yes, it's big when temp is cold. I have to knee on the handle/grip all the way to make rattle disappeared. My stupid dealer found nothing and unable to fix it...

Thanks for your replies. I took the car to the dealer and instead of asking them to find the rattle, just told them several things that I thought could be the cause, like the seat belt, map pocket, door lock, etc. They just put felt tape on everything they could think of and the rattles are now gone. Unfortunately, now that the rattles on the driver side are gone, I can hear the rattles on the passanger side. Back to the dealer we go.

My TL goes in tomorrow for the mother of all rattles. This one's in the dash right under the center speaker. It's one of those non-stop numbers. I'm getting a bit deaf after running up the volume to drown it out. I'll post a follow-up.

Current car name is The Rattler.

The ratTLer has been silenced!

Made and appointment yesterday to stop by the dealership today at lunch to have a tech check out my dash rattle. After half a block of driving he had it diagnosed and a solution ready to try. Turns out the noise was actually coming from the sunroof. Talk about your auditory halucinations. Here's how the ticket read after the repair:

'Applied moonroof tape to frame. Also lubed side of deflector seal. Wash and vacuum'.

Now I don't have to sell it.
