Does this piece fit the 04-06?
I didn't know what to call the piece. But does this piece fit the 04-06 TLs? I would like to have it match the chrome emblems on the car. I think it would look pretty nice with the 07 TL-S tails as well.
If it does, does anyone know how easy/hard it is to replace?

Piece a cake to install, just remove the rear plate holder (as shown in the camera install threads), and unscrew it from the back.
It's gonna unbalance the car though... Black chroem in the back and brushed silver in teh front

Yea I thought about that as well (the color difference), but I was thinking the emblems would look nice with the chrome trimming. But what about those guys that paint it the color to match the car... theirs are unbalanced.
If you are any of those people, I would love your opinion.

I am thinking of getting this part for two reasons... One the chrome, like you I like it....
Two, I have a camera to install and have been wondering how it would install on this item as its made for a camera opposed to modifying my old one...
As for the unbalanced, well.... Odds are no one will EVER notice it... When you look at the car in the back and by the time you got to the front you wouldnt notice unless you knew to look for it, so I wouldnt worry about that.
I say go for it. The bad part is the part was not cheap.... I think my dealer told me around $300 for the part, which is the same for the older models msrp wise, but still a bit high for what it is...

It will fit, but if you wanted to use the factory camera that comes with the 07 tls, it be over 3k in the project. If you wanted to munt the ebay cameras oto this plate holder, it would still require a bit of cutting as the cameras will not fit in the factory hole. BTW, this 3k is:
Camera 700 dollars
plate holder 300 dollars
new navi drive with DVD 2000 dollars +
the new drive is necessary because it has the port for the camera and the update electronics to switch between sources.

Agree with ding069 & BigB2K5.... it fits with no problem, however, in order to get that piece you'll have to purchase the whole license plate frame with reverse lights and everything (LAMP UNIT, item #23)... is that one shinny black chrome piece really worth $270...

I know this is long dead but wanted to update in case anyone did a search ever.
I finally today got around to doing mine. (I ordered one about a year ago, haha)
Anyway it fits but you cant use it.
The frame lines up, but the license plate bolts do not line up with the hole.
If you grind the hold to make it line up (which dont matter as you cant see because behind plate) the lower ones will be two far away and those are not movable or anything.
So My $238 I spent a year ago was a $215 wast of junk.... All I can do is use the chrome part of it on my old plate frame and grind my old frame for my camera.
I did not want to grind the old frame because it only has one support in the center and you have to remove it for the camera, on the new style frame it has 2 on the side and the camera fits in between... So no support loss..
Oh well, my loss is someone elses gain... Wish I could have my money back, lol

It doesnt fit you have to modify it the 04-06 has 3 notches and screws holding it in the 07 n up has 4. i got one off ebay and found out the hard way....but with a dremel and silicon you can achieve anything.

OK short story of what happened: I bought from the vendor on Ebay. It was different from the original. It was just a couple mere mm larger than the original one. May not seem much but if you try to wedge the trim on without trimming it will bow up from the center with quite some force. Plus there 4 screw mounting pods on it vs 3. I dremelled of 2 of the inner pods and glued 1 in the center as it was on the original. I carefully slowly tried to dremel the trim on the edges to make it fit. I got it PERFECT. I couldn't leave well enough alone so I sanded it lightly to finish it off.....I took too much off! It left a .5mm gap. Really nothing, but enough to be noticable and irritating to me. I put it on and fixed it on with double sided tape as well. It stuck REALLY well!
A few weeks later I did my backup camera and my dremel rubbed up against it by accident causing a burn mark. Later as I did my cathode license lights I landed a few more scratches from some clamps. I decided to replace the whole piece again. (It lasted me just 1 month!)
It took some serious effort to remove the trim because the double sided tape was SO strong! This time I redid the pods again but decided NOT dremel the ends and decided to rely on the double sided tape and just wedge it in. It worked at first but by 2 wks it bowed out again. I redid it in October....weather was cold and the tape was not sticky enough and by 1 month it bowed again.
So right now it's kinda sticking out and irritating me. I'm waiting till it warms up and I'll do something about it.
