Does our 3G TL-S feel outdated?
I didn't notice this untill today when i saw the 09 TSX and 09 TL on the road. I hate the new design but for some reason aftering seeing the 09 models on the road, feels as if our 3g TL-s is outdated. Don't get me wrong i love my 08TL-S. Love everything about the car. It just feels very outdated. Perhaps its because of lack of push start button?
Push button starting on a street car is pointless. My S2000 has it, just one more step to start the car. I like it if it's the key stays in your pocket type though.
And no, our cars are not outdated. They are timeless and will only improve with age. Every future generation of crazy Acura razorblade grills and shields will only make us look better.

i brought my 06 nbp/ebony 5at/nav in for warranty service and was given a 09tsx for loaner.the interior and dash looked like a civic dx very inexpensive looking.the only thing i liked was the 10 speaker 410 watt system
I have an 05 TL and i still cant stop staring at it. Im staring at it right now out my window. I dont feel outated at all... I keep in mind what a lady said at a recent car show i went to "They made the TL look like a old people car".
I dont care much for the push buttom.

other than our awesome tape deck, i think the 3G looks more up to date than many of the new cars out there...and compared to others from the same time period i think the 3G will holds its age much better
The 3G TL is 5 years old and yes it is outdated, but just remember new models doesn't mean it is any better. It seems cheaper quality are used to made cars these days. I rather stick with my 08 TLS, it is a "hot" car and definitely a headturner.
There is nothing about the 4g TL that makes me regret my 3g TL, or feel the urge to upgrade.
and fyi, the 3g platform is 5 years old, and in some ways 10-11 years old (e.g. the engine) but still has a majority of the features/technology in the latest generation. I'd say it's held up fairly well.

The lines on the 3G are far beyond its time IMO. The car is absolutely gorgeous. I too, stare at my car on a daily basis. I go out to have a smoke, and just walk around the car over and over again, admiring every inch of it.
Outdated? Psssshh yearite

haha but yea i have an uncle like you. he trades in for a new camry every year a new one comes out... hes never gona be done paying off a camry if he keeps buying a new one lol
I constantly find it amazing how defensive everyone around here gets about their TL's. I actually think the two things that make our 3G TL's look somewhat outdated are smallish 17" wheels and a flat instead of a hooded Navi screen. Most cars the TL competes with now comes with at least 18" and sometimes 19" wheels (like the 4G TL) and a hooded Navi to cut out the sunlight.
I still love my TL-S, but do notice the evolution of cars.

I just got my car and have no intention of trading for the 09. Like i said, i love my TL. Just like everyone else here, I can't stop staring at it. The fact hat 4g tl is out does bother me a bit. And yes the 17 inch rims, the hooded navi, cassette player and lac of ipod integ. does make the car feel somewhat outdated when compared to its competitors. Other than that, the car is a beauty.
IMHO -
In terms of exterior design, I think the main body and rear end hold up well. The front end, short of the headlights and grill, is shaped similarly to some older vehicles, including the 2G TL.
Interior-wise, I think that the Nav equipped models look like rocket ships from 2020.

Not outdated for me. The 3G one of those cars that just looks awesome whenever you see one from any angle on the road or in a parking lot.
I feel the same way about the 2G as well. Gorgeous lines, great stance...and a classic look that will never look outdated.
Even if the 4G was drop-dead gorgeous, it could never detract from how great the 3G or the 2G look. Period. The big shame is that the 4G is not as pretty as it is cool. More modern? Perhaps... but IMHO it will never be considered a classic look. It's just too "edgy".

I can't decide on the wheels. I'm really against giant ghetto rims and 18" seems just fine to me. But from what you are saying the 4G TL might be up your alley?
The only thing I really like bout the 4g's in the responsiveness to voice command controls. I barely use mine in the 3G it's not accurate and extremely slow. I still think the 3g's are sexyyyyy.
DEFINTELY not outdated!! I TOO alwayz look back @ my 3G like "damn she is beautiful" best car i have owned to this day! the 4G on the other hand looks terrible and favors the cadillac CTS IMO....(yuckkk!!!)
I agree man...I bought my 3G TL knowing that the new body style was coming out. When I caught a glimpse of the 4G I didn't hesitate for a minute to cop the 3G. I'm obsessed with my car and think that it is a timeless body style too! The interior is definitely decent on the 4G but the exterior doesn't compare at all...
I feel outdated in my 08 TL-S only for the fact that we don't an USB integration, I would love to copy my mp3s to my 32GB flash card...instead of burning countless mp3 CDs... 4G wins in this case. (and I hate iPod)
The TL-S has some of the best looking, aggressive and futuristic lines of any car out there right now IMO. I mean it's got Bluetooth, an amazing nav system, voice commands...doesn't seem outdated to me!
I still havent seen an '09 on the road, so I will wait until that happens to actually see how I feel in my '08 type S but I anticipate feeling something like "your car is newer and cost more but I wouldn't trade you" as I glance over and smile.
Also I LOL every time someone mentions our tape deck. Do you think thats why they put it in the car? Just for laughs? Cuz thats all I can think of.
