Question Do you guys treat your wheels?

Do you guys wax or polish your rims or just wash 'em? I treat the rubber with Endurance by Meguiars (nice and black - only gets shiny if you do multiple coats. Pretty good stuff) But I do not do anything with rims. Should I?

I just throw the same wax on the wheels I use on the car. I use Zaimol (sp?). Anyone care to comment on whether it's good? I bought it on a whim a few years back, and liked it a lot, so I have continued using it. I have always heard waxing the wheels protects them from the brake dust.

I just put regular soap and water to wash my rims. The rims we have are very easy to clean, well the 17 inch ones anyway

If my wheels are well behaved, I'll treat them to Flying Saucers at Carvel's in Huntington.

The Zaino tire treatment works really well on the all season mats, trunk tray and mud guards.

I Zaino my wheels. Z-2 and and occasional Z-6 treatment.

Z-16 for the tires. Finish is a bit flatter (not so shiny), almost matte. IMHO, much nicer looking than the oily, silicon based stuff (too shiny for my taste.) I like the tires clean and dark looking. Also, Z-16 seems to last a lot longer than the typical silicon based sprays.

I put two coats every time I do a deep clean and it lasts through rain and about 3-4 light washings.

Z-16 has the consistency of milk. Pretty thin. It's a bottle of liquid. I just use the applicator pads that Zaino has (cotton cloth wrapped over a sponge.) Probably wouldn't want to put it on with just a towel.

Very easy to put on. Takes literally a couple minutes to do all the wheels.

AFIK, Zaino only sells stuff online.

Meguiars wax on the wheels as well. i use number 26 on the wheels. brake dust does not stick to it as much and its much easier to clean off when dirty.

I just cleaned mine for the first time with 250 miles on board and boy do those wheels get dirty. I hope the OEM 18” are easy to clean. Does everyone clean the wheel all the way to the backside? Very hard to get at.

I tried Zaino, lots of brake dust. This week is some leftover polymer polish I had, we'll see at the end of the week how it goes. If that doesn't work, I'm trying Wheel Wax next week.

I treat mine with a good coat of brake dust everyday. Compliments of the factory Brembos.

Actually, I just use wheel cleaner and rinse weekly. Wheels are surprisingly durable and coated well for heat and elements. Not much need for additives.

Oh yeah, don't forget to floss the inner wheel area. Don't want any build-up.

What's the easiest way of doing this?? Seems hard to get all the way inside and clean all around.

i use a wheel brush to get to the inside of the rim and i clean behind the spokes as well. i try to keep the rims as clean as possible. its hard to clean the front rims because of the large brembos. can't get the brush in there. what i end up doing is like 3/4 or the rim and then i have to move the car a bit so i can get to the rest of the rim.

Go to any auto parts store and get the wheel brush (that looks like a mini toilet bowl brush) with metal lining, I got two. Works well for exterior and the second one I bend half-way to form a hook for those hard to get to areas.

BTW... a full headed toilet bowl brush does work well too. Just a little strange if someone see's you in the driveway with it.

I just hit a curb and scratched my right wheel. How are the wheels repaired? I am taking my car into the dealer tomorrow for some add on accessory installations, and I will talk to him about the repair. I have had the car for less than a week so I am pissed at the poor engineering in the shopping center that caused the problem. I noticed that many other cars hit this same curb.

I heard about WHEELWAX from one of my friend and so i wanted to try it out. I put it on last weekend and have already collected a lot of dust. I drove close to 1000 miles in a week. So there is a lot of brembo dust. I just wiped it with a cloth and it was like just dust coming off. It was soo damn clean. i like it. Try it yourself and see. I think the link to the manufacturer is, www.wheelwax.com
