Do you guys like the red leather in the 2009 TL/Replacement Question?
Please don't move this post to the 09 forum. The reason i'm asking is b/c I bought a 2005 TL and the leather is kind of grungy looking. I'm going to have it re-dyed anyway, and I went and saw the 09 TL with the red leather. It was not a bright red, but more maroon and actually looked pretty sharp.
Do you guys think that would look good in the 3rd gen TL? Like I said I'm going to get it re-dyed anyway...I orginally was going to just do a lighter shade of grey though.

Full of water...
i was going to say the same thing, minus the soil comment. i think the umber(orange) looks really nice, but not sure about any shade of actual red.

yeah the TL I looked at had the dark grey exterior with the maroon/orange interior. I think that color combo looks very slick. My 05 is silver though...that may not work as well to be honest.
I have the taupe/grey interior and like I said it is looking run down. I'm looking at getting the seats dyed either way, so if the red won't work I can go for a lighter grey or even just dye them black. Now here is the catch, to keep costs down I'm not going to have the door panels/lower instrument panel dyed. Just the seats.
With that in mind are there any suggestions?

I think in a TL-S.. red with black leather...would look gorgeous...
But at this point, I'm at least hoping for a red Type S emblem on the headrest.

^ those seats look super plush. I hate it when someone comes up with a concept that lots of people like and some big wig asshole says.....nah need to be plain like every other car out there on the road today.

If u dye the pleather u will be very disappointed....it rubs off fairly quick and it will never be smooth or have the true "red" color you're seeking..... ur best bet is getting in touch with Katzkin, see if they make a kit for the car.... if they dont... get the seats reupholstered... that all costs a good amount of $$$
my whole interior minus material if i didnt do a majority of it myself woulda cost over 3.5k in labor. my material alone was almost 2k WHOLESALE . that was for the headliner, pillars, rear deck, seats, doors and a lil left over just in case its needed and some for all the small things . each front seat took 9 hours and the rear seat (top n bottom) took 12.... im talkin about perfect stitching, no oops its not straight or it tangled....every thread was done with super care by my upholsterer.... think carefully and do a lot of HW on this mod before you do it....so in the end you will have a completed product and ur totally happy.

Actually, I asked around and from this thread and others I don't think that I would dye it red since my car is silver. I'm just going to dye it a lighter color grey. I did have it professionally cleaned. The previous owner did not do anything to it for 4 years and I honestly think it needs to be replaced or re-dyed. I have the taupe leather in the 05 model, so are you saying that if I re-dye it to a ligher color it will rub off pretty quick?
Oh and I don't know how to post pictures...
