Do you guys enjoy your 04-06 non-6spd/07-08 non Type-S TL?

Kinda wish I had navi...but if I did, I'd probably not even use it. May invest in touchscreen and something custom for it eventually...
and put in a "cleaner" bass setup. The 2 12's are cluttering up that trunk!
I think it helps that the car was still made until 08 without much change. PLUS, the concensus is that the newer body style, although nice, is not nicer.

my 06 AT, hits that perfectly little blend of value, performance, economy, and luxury that makes it the perfect DD.
Do I regret anything?
MT? Nope. Commute hell around the DC area. I've also had occasions where I've needed others to drive plus once I hurt my foot and once I hurt my hand, and both would have put me out of commission if I had had an MT.
Type S? Nope. Dont need the extra hp, I'm quite happy with my mileage/power now. I also prefer the styling I have which imo has all the best elements of the 06 aspec and the Type S. Plus it was fun modding everything rather than have Acura do it all for me...although if i had the type S, I'd probably be one of the few to reverse mod it down to the 04-06 aspec.
The only thing I envy a little is the updated Navi, although mine has the AngryDad hack + wallpaper + trip computer, which I wouldnt sacrifice for a newer navi...

Agreed, what is outdated about the Navi besides needing updated maps, and the screen resolution? My dad's new Pilot has Navi but no touchscreen FTL. I think our Navi is pretty good.
its a small small point that doesnt detract from the whole car, hell i dont even use the navi.
even with updated maps, the navi still feels dated.
we have phones and GPS systems that are more advanced than our navi's

I think the screen resolution itself is adequate. Just the graphics and rendering is kinda crunchy. The fact that it's DVD-based means that its much slower to load maps and data than an HDD-based system. I use my nav once a month if that, I just like the other features of the screen.
On an unrelated note, I just got home about a half hour ago from a 300 mile road trip and damn I cannot ever get over how comfy that car is on the highway.

Would totally rather have a 6-speed base than my slushbox. My wife refuses to learn how to drive manual so I'm considering divorce.
Do not care about Type-S. The performance gain is nowhere near enough to justify the cost difference, and I prefer the base model's blue dash to red dash. Don't like the Type-S rims, and I also prefer the simplicity of the 5-spoke star design on the base.
I bought it for a reliable daily driver that looks good and is comfortable - everything is butter smooth on that car from the lines to the interior to the transmission and flat power curve. Don't need a Type-S to get the same thing - all TL's have these qualities.
When I have the money for an additional vehicle, it'll be manual but definitely not a TL.
That being said, I will probably look for an '04-'06 6-speed once my slushbox is driven into the ground for my next daily driver.

Got my '06 6spd at local Acura dealer. Had to have it because '04-'06 manuals seem to be almost non-existent around here. Not an S, but has larger Brembo front brakes, limited slip differential, and stiffer anti-roll bars than the ATs. I'll never have a flat out sports car so this is the ideal combination of sport and luxury for me. The 1st owner debadged the rear and put in led front side lights. I had Car Toys install a rear camera through the nav screen plus an iPod jack for. 3rd gear was notchy so Acura rebuilt at no cost (TSB Number:08-018) and replaced clutch for cost of parts. Wife won't drive it, too many gizmos. All mine and a joy to drive.
You're right and I totally missed this. My post (#15) was for my '04 manual. What I said holds true but for a manual. I would not have purchased this car, or any car for that matter, with an automatic for my personal driving machine. My mistake with my prior post.

Mine is manual too...and I read the title properly, it just seemed like a good thread to talk about any regrets or lack thereof about having a base TL or an older one.
I agree with you SouthernBoy...
I had an automatic first car for 6 months...that was 14 years ago. Then, once for 1 month I had an automatic Nissan Frontier...I thought I was ready for auto and taking it easy. Boy was I wrong...took a 4K loss to trade in for a sporty manual car. Haven't even considered it since. My fiance has an auto 08 accord coupe so if we are going somewhere with traffic, we opt for hers.

The only thing my 07 lacks is a little bit of sound damping..(Road noise wise)
Have been lucky and have had no rattles or any other problems.
Sustained freeway trips net over 32 mpg all the time.
Sure would like that upcoming 6sp auto however

^^^I tend to agree.
I think the "look" has caught on and the more you see it on the whole fleet of Acura Cars the more you get used to it and eventually the more it starts "dating" the 3G. Which sucks, but either way, a classic is a classic.
The 3G will end up being the Acura Legend of the new millenium...a well maintained one will end up being highly sought after eventually.
PS. If price wasn't an issue, I'd be in one too! lol...Mayan Bronze with Umber interior...

it will grow on every one, as time moves forward other manufactures will make bold statements as well.
you can already see it happening with Hyundai and Acura. In 10-20 years, I bet most will have a space ship lookin design

good designs are elegant and timeless, bad designs are just...cheesy. The 4g will never, ever, be elegant.
Absolutely, theres a black 4G that often parks by me at the gym, and every time I walk back out, I'm glad I own an AM 3G 6mt. 3G styling is 2389623863219x better than 4G. Though I wouldn't mind sh-awd...

This was a good thread in helping me make my decision. I recently paid of my current car 06 sentra & I was gonna save toward getting an 07 Type S. After giving it some thought (and reading this thread) I decided to get a 07 base w/navi. That way I get one sooner & if I want a Type S in a couple years I can just trade the base in and add a couple thousand in cash
Sorry, I'm only talking about the front, side, and rear body spoilers. I dont like the front, side, or rear base or aspec spoilers for the type S...or I should say i like the aspec body spoilers of the 04-06 more. I like the aggressive partially flared out look.

i got my 05 5AT non-navi back in nov/dec 04...no type-s at the time, so the only options i had was the navi or non-navi and the 5AT or 6SPD manual...the only thing i regret is not getting the navi...opted for the a-spec kit instead. aside from that, the 3g is one nice piece of machinery that i enjoy driving for the past 6 years.

I love my TL the most out of all the cars that ive had. It tops my 99 si even though i put so much time and effort into that little car. I have my TL for about 4 months now and every day looking at it, I still think it's sexy as f#$@.
My one and only complaint about the TL is that there are so many others on the road. On one hand, that makes it kind of a stealth racecar and less likely to get pulled over, but on the other hand...who wants to be just like everyone else? But hey, that's why we have mods, right?
