Do I expect too much

Today I had Acura Woodbine replace the left rear door checker the right was done before.

I also asked the service manager look at the "Rust" forming on the trunklid on both sides of the licence plate. It looks like rust but when you wax it does go away, however it appears again. The service manager tells me this is road grime and it is part of my body maintenance to wash & wax and remove.

I believe this is rail dust from during transportation that is rusting.

Interesting point I made to the service manager, is that the rest of the car does not have these marks, seems unreasonable that a piece of metal that does not get any abuse from wind or tires according to him gets road grime.

Any thoughts on how to handle.

It makes him a moron because he asked an honest question?

Maybe MichiganRich was referring to someone close enough to smell.

The back of the trunk lid gets a lot more abuse than you think. The vacuum created there sucks in all kinds of stuff.. As for the rail dust is iron filings from the snow plow blades and the Clay Bar kit will remove it. Waxing over it only removes the stain , the clay will pull the particles right out and problem is gone.

And yes its your problem.

BTW rail dust is a generalized term meaning any iron particles be it rail/plow/brake sourced is called rail dust.

Thank-you for your feedback it is appreciated. If this area is a vacuum does that mean that the Clay Bar needs to be done annually to remove small paritcles?

Sorry for not providing pics, I don't own a digital camera.

Yes .. my spring detail includes the clay baring .. I bet if you wah your car and dry it then put oyur hand in a baggie and run it over the bottoms of your front doors and behind your rear wheels you will feel a lot of roughness .. its a good portion of rail dust and some other road contaminants.

My web page has a dropdown in it linking to how to clay.
