DIY: Take front Acura emblem off without taking grill off
Hi guys,
So I decided to paint my emblems. Here is a pick of the rear one
![](http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm111/johandabomb/t2.jpg)
I didn't paint the front one the same day just because it would not come out with the same technique as the front one did. So I searched and realized that you have to take the whole grill of to take the front one off. I understand that they want to keep the emblem safe from thieves but I thought that was not needed.
So after 30 mins of unsuccessfully trying to unscrew the screws without taking the bumper off I became very frustrated. I didn't want to take the bumper off every time I wanted to do something to the emblems. So I thought and came up with this idea. Let me warn you, this is not how Acura intended you to do it. I cannot guarantee your success, but it worked for me. I did this with the idea of being able to take the front emblem off the same way I am going to take the rear emblem off.
I am just going to write the steps just because I already did it, and I am soaking my emblem in bleach. I will try to get some later on tomorrow. So here we go.
Tools Needed:
Small thin flat head (half the width of a pencil)
Regular size flat head
Hammer or any blunt object
Double sided tape
I am not responsible for any destroyed emblems, this is just the technique I used, and that worked successfully.
Steps:
First get your small flat head and lift the top of the Acura emblem. Put it directly in the middle so it can fit in the middle of the two prongs of the emblem.
Hammer down lightly until it is all the way through and the handle cannot go any further.
Get your second regular sized flat head and make a 30 degree angle coming from the top slowly hammer. That side should pop out.
Repeat on the other side making another 30 degree angle.
It should be popped out after that and be able to prep for paint.
Do whatever you were going to do.
Apply double sided tape.
As I said before this is not how it is suppose to be done. It is fine with me I am going to put double sided tape so from here on I will just need some fishing line and a hair dryer. I will try to get pictures up ASAP.

Plastidip is a rubber compound that puts a matte/glossy coat over basically anything. Most people use it on their emblems or on their grills. It's applied like spray paint, but it is removable so you don't have to mask off your entire car or take the emblems off.

Black is the most popular color since it is sold in any hardware store, but http://www.dipyourcar.com sells colors such as Black, White, Red, and Clear.
