Well, I finally decided to do this. Thanks much OP for posting this!

This was so simple and came out just fine. Took about 20 minutes total.

Took me about 5 minutes to remove the four moldings. I didn't even have to use the OP's hair dryer and fishing line trick. The car had been sitting outside in the sun on a hot day and I was simply able to pry them off with my fingers. (I don't think this would have been as easy otherwise.) Most of the tape came with the BSMs except for a thin line at the top. I just used my fingers to roll up the excess tape that didn't come off with the BSMs.

About 5 minutes were spent to use some GooGone to clean up the little bit of excess sticky stuff. There was a pencil thin line at the top edge and bottom edge of the moldings that were left behind. At first, I thought it was just dirt, but when I tried to clean the area the sticky stuff started spreading around in a big mess so I pulled out the Goo Gone.

Another 5-10 minutes to apply some Maguiars cleaner & wax to clean up the rest.

You'd never know there had previously been side molding's sitting on the car for the past 6 years. I do not see any signs of fading or anything like that.

When I did mine the front came out really nice and clean but the back looks like total crap it looks like it was pushed right in to the door and now I have a black outline of the bsm on both rear doors! Did this happen to you guys If so how did you fix it bec I tried claying and it hasn't really worked much..

I actually want to take one bsm off one door and readjust it. The bodyshop guy whom I do not want to deal with again, placed it crooked. My front door looks good, then the back door bsm lines up where the front one ends, it goes about 15 degrees crooked south. My question is can I reuse the adhesive that on the bsm or do I have to remove it and reapply a new tape on the molding?

Yes. It's just double sided tape. It's strong stuff that won't budge much unless it's warmed up.

I just finished this today. If you're like me and don't have a heat gun/blow dryer, the car being out in the sun on a hot day is enough to soften the tap to the point where you can remove the molding with just your hands. Most of the tape should come off with it if it's old. Fresh tape, not so much.

I didn't notice a different in the paint color after I was done. The only thing that I could see was a faint rectangle which is where the adhesive used to be, but I have to be really up close to see it.

^/^^ Some door panel do have holes behind the molding. The earlier cars used to have alignment holes. Then later on bc of rust issues the holes was eliminated and double side tape was use instead if a hole and a clip.

Depending on the color and how much sunlight the panel recievies is what will determine the color differences.

I would be more concern with the double sided tape leaving a mark on the clear coat than the mismatched color.

Honestly I would leave it alone bc it functions as a ding protector.
