^ The orange reflector is one piece. Some people have cut it and left a small piece in the corner.

And yes to your second question. You can paint it any color you desire.

I painted my headlight bezel and that chrome strip gunmetal.....Looked cool, I always got compliments for being different. Went well with my anthracite but I painted them back to chrome. I prefer a lil more contrast.

That pic show the exact place I put my resistors too. Out of the way but be forewarned the resistor's wires are JUST long enough, there's hardly any play there.

those amber bulbs look pretty good, although i think i want something brighter for during the day. when i am driving during the day i am pretty sure nobody can see my front turn signals...

and also, did you paint the reflector inside where the corner bulbs are black or did you take that off?

Yet another version of Black outs thanks to this thread. This was the easiest job. Time consuming but easy. I used toothpaste to mask the chrome edges in the blinkers, it works great. I wish I hadn't sat on the fence about this for a couple of years. This can be done by your self easily. Thanks for posting excellent instructions and tips.

GOSH darnit!!!...I tried your DIY step by step, some how I have the setting on broil instead of baked (7-8mins) and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArrrgggh shit started melting!!!! I grabbed it out quickly and threw it in the fridge LOL. Light still works but really fucced up on bottomside, Oh well I guess I'll buy it from JNC, fuc dam fish paste! but thanks anyways for the inspiration LOL

Remember these important steps

1. baking sheet on the rack, under Neath the headlights (i also put a damp cloth under the HID casing in case, I’m super anal so i put more tin foil on the bottom to use as a heat sink)
2. 200 degree’s F not c
3. i wrapped the plastic pieces in tin foil used as a heat sink so it doesnt melt my mounting tabs.
4. DO NOT LET YOUR HEALIGHT TOUCH ANY PART OF THE OVEN!!
5. WATCH YOUR SH#$
6.When removing the orange reflector inside the headlight don’t pull on it, break the metal studs that are holding it in place and be gentle

i was wondering if instead of using silicone to seal the light back up, how does super glue sound? i told what i am going to do to my headlights to the autozone guy and he told me that superglue is a better idea because sillicone will fall apart during cold weather... is this information true or should i just stick with silicone? and does it matter if its heat resistant silicone or not?

thanks

i would not suggest using super glue. if you ever have to reopen the headlight it will be a pain to open. use silicon! use the high heat gasket maker (black) silicon. super glue is super messy and very tacky. the trick is to fold the tabs back into place to hold the clear casing in place. another trick is to use vise grips wise fusing the two pieces back together

Do not use silicone either there is a better alternative.

From the research that I have done its best to use Nissan Butyl rubber part # B655389915. Here is a link to a thread that JNC posted explaining all the different sealants to use and he advised to use the Nissan Butyl rubber for the best results. Check it out.

sorry typo
when putting the headlights back together, toss the headlight into over to soften up the silicon, and then use vice grips co clamp the two pieces together, so it gets a better seal. after the headlight is assembled run a good size bead along the seem of the two headlight pieces. hopfully that helps.
