Disable side view mirror?

Anyone disabled the "reverse" auto-down side-view mirror or is there even a way?

I don't like the fact that it drops down when I go into reverse. I do a limited number of parking where I'd need it and am more concerend about looking behind me for kids.

Is there a way to turn this feature off?

I am pretty sure you can turn it off if you move the slider for the mirror controls to the center, it will only make the mirror go down if the slider is in that position. ex - slider to the right, right mirror tilts in reverse. Just put it in the center and i think it locks.

Center position does the trick (my normal position).

While this "mirror down" feature seems cool at first, I don't think that it's really practical. When you're in reverse, you should be looking towards the rear of the car.

Maybe during parallel parking?

Best use I've found so far is for U-shaped driveways. Looking out the rear doesn't do anything for me for these kind of driveways. With the side view tilt-down, you can just keep the car aligned with the edge.

Yeah, definitely helps in parallel parking and has saved me from scraping up a rim or two for sure. That's when I typically flip the switch is when I'm parallel parking.

Definitely useful for parallel parking. Also, I park in a garage with huge concrete pillars everywhere, and I have to approach my parking space from an angle, in reverse. That tilting mirror is precious for keeping me from getting too close to the pillars.
