IIRC the only difference is a valve in the Type S that slows down the clutch engagement on fast shifts.

The TL-S 6MT trans is different in some way from the older one, not sure how, but the newer one requires some different tools to dis-assemble/fix than the 04-06 ones.

I could be wrong, but I think the bellhousing in different; the tranny from the 3.5Lwon't work on the 3.2L also the type-S tranny has LSD, but the normal tranny does not.

Correct, all 3rd Gen manual TLs have LSD. One of the reasons I wanted the 6MT over the auto.

The pressure plate and clutch are different detween the 04-06 6MT and 07-08 Type-S 6MT. Supposidly changes were made to provide more clutch feel with a spring in the pressure plate. I thought all the final drive and gear ratio's were same.
