Difference in 04 engine from 08

The 04 Tl is almost the same as the 08. But what different features do an 08 has in its engine that an 04 doesn't????

for 2006 models they gave the engine "altered engine management (for reduced torque steer)" so 2006-2008 should have that.

They did some work with the automatic transmission that's why the newer ones are faster even with the same engine.

This is what Jeff at TOV said about the 07+ TL,

"Under the hood, the 3.2L motor benefits from the same magnesium intake manifold and valve cover components that are fitted to the 3.5L Type-S motor, and the base TL also gets a higher capacity 5-speed automatic. Otherwise, little else has changed. While power and torque are said to be the same as the 2006 model, there was something about the '07 model that we drove that provided a slightly greater sense of urgency than the last '06 TL 5AT I drove - perhaps it has something to do with the programming of the logic that manages the TL's new 5AT (which is a derivation of the RL's gearbox). Gearchanges are said to be quicker in the TL (and quicker still in the TL Type-S). The TL's drivetrain has always been one of its stronger points, and for 2007, Acura builds upon this excellence."

I appreciate knowing this too. I knew there was something different in performance when I went from my 04 to a new 08 but I thought it might have been just related to a newer car.

Did u have 6mt that may be y. And also the 07 and 08 have torque managment when ur floor the car at first but then the torque feels harder in the 08 past 4 rpm. When i took my 08 for a service, they gave me 05 tl, almost gave me tsx i was like i will never come again to ur dealer, and they gave me tl lol. Back to topic well the 05 pulled a little harder but the torque steer was bad compared to 08, but after 4krpm the my 08 seemed to pull harder.

08 was softened to be more luxuriou than sporty. You probably have different tires on you car, and the loaner had grand touring tires. Tires can make or break a car.

The 08 seems to have a better launch than the 04, doesn't lag much too. I get more wheel spin at the line then the 04.
