Did you have to take your TL back to the dealership immediately after you bought it?
When reading threads in this forum, I see a pattern that people who have bought the TL have to take it back to the dealership (within a week or two) to fix certain problems...
Is there anyone on the forum that has not gone back to the dealer to fix any problems? I know that people go to the dealerships for the oil change and so forth, but is there anyone who has not gone to the dealer for MAJOR problems with the TL?
Major problems exclude little things such as rattles, scratches and things similar of that sort...I know that cars are not perfect so there are bound to be some problems here and there...

No major problems, I did go back for a chip in the paint on a door jamb. I also asked that the cargo net anchors be replaced; look like some used a set of channel locks to tighten the anchors and chewed them up a little bit.
No rattles, no problems.

I had to return my TL for a couple things including: scratched headlight, couple paint scratches, and a couple rattles. The service department was great and did everything no questions asked.

I think my car was built on a Monday after the assembly crew had just gotten a huge raise. I have not had a single problem with my car in the 8 months I have owned it. Yes, I do have a rattle here and there but nothing cronic and nowhere near the problems others are having. I can't even complain too hard about the tires, even though I would have preferred Michelins.

Only problem we have is that the emblem frame on the front bumper is loose on the bottom. Looks like we need a new clip or something. We haven't gone back yet but have contacted our salesman who is a family friend. He's going to get us a new clip. This is a minor complaint and I'm sure they will make it right.

Burning Brakes
I recently got a CEL and it turned out to be a faulty O2 sensor. They had to order it and I'm waiting for the call to bring it back in. I noticed an occasional rough idle after a cold start prior to the CEL. They think that that may have been a symptom of the faulty O2.
Only other things were the rear deck rattle that others exerienced. I had them fix it once and a smaller rattle has appeared back there now. Wheni take it in for the O2 they'll look at it then.
When they installed my A-Spec, a small tear showed up in the hood liner. I had them fix that (no charge) and then took it back because they did not properly install it. They fixed that with no questions asked.
Other than that all has been great with the car.

I just had the memory seat thing in the beginning, but I had them do it when they put on the lip spoiler
otherwise, fixed the headliner myself and a couple othe rminor things.
Pretty good compared to some people experiences.

So far, so good.
I've had my car since April. I haven't been back to the dealer since the car was delivered to me. I don't have any rattles.
I think I feel/hear a slight resonance around 50-55 in 5th gear on the 5AT when it is kind of lugging. If I shift to 4th, it goes away.
I don't have tire problems.
It would have to be something serious for me to take my car back to the service dept. I don't like other people messing with my car for routine things I can take care of myself.

Nope.
Almost went back in September for a flatlined outside temperature display. However, this caused the battery to go dead within 5 days and when I charged it back up, the outside temperature display started working again and has been working ever since.

No issues on mine.
Went back after 7 or 8 days to get the A-Spec installed (it was delayed in shipping)
Went back maybe 3-4 weeks after that to get free front bumper plugs as well as the OEM Steering wheel they forgot to give me when I picked up the car post A-Spec.
Havent been in for anything else, and not even my A1 yet (2 months into ownership)

Not a Blowhole
NO - never been back - the minor afflictions I fixed myself. As a rule, I do not go the dealer unless the part costs more than $100, or requires specialized equipment I am not willing to buy or have no use for at a later point, or the part is in a place where i cannot easily access it from a jackstand location.

One on the right for me
The CD player stopped working a week after I took the car home. Waited 2 months for a replacement, only to find out the dealership ordered the wrong part. The correct part just arrived yesterday after going almost 4 months without a functioning CD player.

No problems on my 05 after 1000 miles.
You should have posted this as a poll question with some categories to answer, such as no problems, problems within 2 weeks, etc.

Mine went back to the dealer the next day. The wonderful EL42 tires. I actually stopped two freeways exits from the dealer because I thought I had a flat tire.
Only problem with the car.

I've had several things that I needed to go back to the dealer for.
1) Upper Center console pocket rattled like crazy, open OR closed. They "tightened" it somehow and the rattle is 95% gone. I may still try the " cottonball" solution offered in another thread.
2) Dead battery. Gt stuck . They replaced it. So far so good
3)Passenger side sun visor internal rattle ( not the one tha hits the light) Had to make 2 trips to 2 different dealers on that one because they place where i BOUGHT the car from was completely incompetant and decided to install a drivers side visor in the passenger side! I will NEVER go back there again. Stupid bastards
4) Alignment off. Had them do a 4 wheel alignment. Problem fixed.
5) Butt print issue. Delaer says " normal".. yeah right.
That's it so far

We've only had our 05 TL for three weeks, but so far no problems whatsoever. (I might ask about how the rear mud gaurds were installed, since thye're not 100%, but I certainly wouldn't go back to the dealership just for that.
