Demo Question

Demo Question
On October 16th I ordered a silver/ebony '04 TL with NAV and put down $1000 deposit. The dealer initially said he expected this car in by mid December but would try to trade with another dealer to get one in earlier. Today, the dealer said he may be getting in one as a demo by the end of this week and will see about diverting it to me instead of using it as a demo. Questions: Is there any reason NOT to take an unused demo? Do they have low VIN numbers? How can I even tell if a VIN number is low or not? And I thought the dealers were not allowed to sell the demos under any circumstances...? Do you think the dealer is just trying to keep me interested?

Starbie,
To tell if the VIN is low, look at the last 5 digits of the VIN (on window sticker, and at base of windshield), for now they start with a 0XXXX. Mine is 01600's the first Nav on my dealers lot.
That is how you tell if it is a low VIN. The firs one on the lot had a VIN of about 01029, lately at the dealership, I have seen them around 02900 to 04000.
As to the DEMO only, I will let others comment on them as I have not seen this.
Mine does have a few minor issues, adjustments only.
Good luck!
BTW - Mine is SSM/Ebony Navi AT like yours.
