Definitive Answer? - Key Fob #1 vs #2
I searched the forum and cannot determine a definitive answer. Maybe someone has one.
Are the #1 and #2 key fobs actually different to allow the TL to determine which they are?
The vendor I got a used replacement from says "they're the same only matters in the order they are programmed". Others say they are different.
I tend to believe they are different 'cause the fob I ordered is marked "1" (I was too ignorant to realize I really wanted "2") and the MID always declares "Driver 1 detected".
I'm just looking for info to see if I can get the vendor (on eBay) to swap me a #2 for the #1 I bought.
TIA,
Steve

Fobs that say 1 can only be programmed for Driver 1. There is no way to make the car know that you want one of the 1's to be a 2. The only way to make the car think it's a 2 is to use a 2.
So you will have to get a 2 to make the car say Hi Driver 2.
The codes of up to three transmitters can be stored into the keyless receiver unit memory. But all the 1's will be for Driver 1 and the 2's will be for Driver 2, in whatever combination you want to make them. There is no Driver 3.
