10000K; it's illegal, but some cops dont bother. but since it does gain a lot of their attention, they can find reasons to ticket you. i'd go with 6000k, you'll wont regret it!

Why anyone would go with a blue headlight is beyond me. Certainly doesnt look cool and in most cases puts out LESS light than even a standard halogen bulb.

As stated above the absolute max I would do is 6000K. The factory OEM D2S bulbs are 4300K and are the brightest (as far as lumens go) that are available. Anything above 4300K the light output actually goes down.

I ran 10k and 8k for a while and it looked good but you do lose output but with hid fog's it's fine visibility wise. I drove my sister accord with halogen's,now they SUCK.The cop's can be hard here and I never got pulled for my hid's. I'm now running 6k love the setup look/function.

here's some pic's my 8k setup

pic suck's but it show's the best color.....

Say wha? 8000K Legal? Um... good luck with that one.

Even the Ultinon's (6000K) ones are not DOT stamped and approved. The bluer the light, the more glare you'll give off to on-coming traffic (and more noticeable to the cops), and more reflection driving in the fog. Reflection = bad for visibility, but you like it because you want to look like a UFO coming down the road.

Unless the bulb has a DOT stamp at the base of the bulb, then it is not approved for use on the road. Whether you get pulled over for it or not is by chance and luck. If the cop's in a bad mood, he has every right to use that as an excuse to pull you over and then check for any additional mods (engine/exhaust/headlight height off the road if you're lowered, tint, etc...) and write you up for it.

I still think that anything over 4300k looks cheesy. And it certainly won't help you with cops/visibility.

20K? Wow.... That's pretty dim, isn't that worse than halogen lights?

Yep & that will get you into trouble with the Law
The higher the color temperature, the darker the color produced. (www.mobilehid.com) IMO 8000K would be the highest I would use.

BTW HID Kits are not street legal

My friend has 12000k hid's. When he's coming at you they are extremely bright but when I get in his car the light output isn't as good as my factory TL bulbs.

Lol this is like a ricer thread. Blue lights are dumb. I got 8000k bulbs for my car to try it out but immediately i was damn this thing has no visibility, so i went to 6000k it was better but i wanted maximum visibility, so then i got philips 85122+ bulbs which are the best 4300k bulbs. I put 4500k hids in my fogs. At night i can see everything and i laugh at ricers with hids who think they see well with blue hids

The OSRAM CBI's have taken the crown from the 85122+'s! 5000K light with the same intensity! It's pure science that the bluer the light the more your eyes get fatigued and as well the lower the intensity since it's a blue tint over a bulb that glows whiteish yellow!

don't rice out your TL with 10K + bulbs. It looks stupid beyond belief with purple headlights and even moreso when you can't see infront of you!

Blue=rice.

Most people are confusing the color band for the Kelvin temp. Any car you see on the road has stock 4300k bulbs but I believe the newer Mercedes are coming with the CBIs. So when you see this deep rich blue or purple, that's the color band. Not the bulb color. Except if you're a ricer.

^^ Depends on company. My 8k in my 5 series looks like 6k. At start up they look like 8k but then go down to 6k. Every company measures kelvins differently. Some companies 12k is deep blue while others its violet.

For me I am going to go 6k on the low beams and 10k for fogs.

They aren't that much more than the Philips, a place had them going for around 120 for the set. I was looking at a set of D1S bulbs and the CBI's were around 200 dollars for the set!
