It's inevitable that this happens.

I personally don't care what other people do to their cars, ridiculous or not.

The 3G is still the best looking model in my eyes and that's all that counts.

ok.. im handing off my tls I bought a year ago to my 20 year old brother to drive around and rice it out.. this way you old guys can get rid of yours..

I thought about a lot of cars before I bought mines. 21k with acura financing. 49k miles. it was clean until a mexican guy with no insurance tapped scratched my rear bumper and quarter wheel well. then tried to run. (bitter)

I bought this car over many.. My friend bought his 2000 tl and has 200k and still runs like a champ. All the cars I owned, civics, audi, jeep, etc. I liked my 2000 accord best for comfort, room, etc. I figure it would be another accord that will last for a long time, with luxury and power (icing on the cake).

My thoughts about cars changed when I turned 25. six years ago... I do have a moto that will punish kids if treated with no respect and keep my soul young.

Im wanting to buy a 07 or 08 tls at the end of this summer. What do you think is a good price for one in good condition around 50,000 miles? Im thinking around 19.5k. They fluctuate every other weeks around 21k on ebay. Im hoping it'll depreciate some more by the end of the summer.

You have to understand.. that the price you see advertised in not written in stone.

I drove 50 miles to dealers out of town. 24k otd with no acura financing. like 7% apr. Other acura dealers wanted 23k or so for a base tl. it was certified but not a tls I paid 1k less for the supply.

I found mines for 23.5 advertised 10 miles from home. Talked it down to 21k. with 100k drive train warranty. My car is not the greatest deal but I was happy with the price. Hence supply and demand. My demand was 22k for a tls.

IMO leases are over its the best time to buy a certified tl. with acura financing (lower apr with good credit,.) Also in a down economy they may have a lower demand. So prices are very negotiable.

Its supply and demand. Of course they will tell you they are not making money. But dealers dont lose customer that dont shop around do.

My buddy just bought a new bike. at dealer. He was going to just buy it. I told him not to. We walked they did not budge. I spent all day with him. I called a dealer 50 miles away and told them straight up I want to buy. Whats your best price. It was 700 bucks less than any dealers around us. I dont know about everyone else but I dont make 700 bucks in one day. If I did I would be in a Ferrari forum.

Learn to shop around.

Yea thats what Im doing. Ive been looking at the prices for around 2 years now on cars.com, autotrader, craigslist, azine, ebay, newspapers, if I drive by one on a car lot, etc. The 19.5k I mention is what I hope to be paying at the end of this summer. I actually bought my last tl on ebay and should have talked them down a little but Ive learned from my mistakes.

I just purchased a 2008 Type-S with 50K for just over $20K. The book was $25K so figured it was a good deal. Had been looking at a couple TL's with navi around $18.5K, but they sold quick! The only finacial concern for our younger crowd or even older crowd now able to afford these vehicles would be maintanence IMO. Sure, at $20K with a decent finance rate you could get $400 a month or under payments without all the fancy insurance packages. But then run the risk of paying out a pocket for repairs. And from what I can tell so far ya can't just jack this up in the driveway to change the oil. At 60K gotta run to the dealer and get a $450 service, then what if the navi fails? Seat warmer goes out? Voice rec, bluetooth, stereo has an issue. These things aren't cheap to fix! That's why I'm a big fan of warranty. And honestly the age of people driving a car like mine doesn't effect my choice. It's a cool car with alot of "bells and whistles" that's fun to drive! I'm happy with it, all that matters

I'm just it has, that's one of the reason's I joined the site was for all this helpful info. Being a person who would much rather do things himself that taking it to the "stealer" I'll need all the info. Guess my point being someone who doesn't have any basic knowledge mechanically or electrical would find it difficult to service and need to take it somewhere and pay out the pocket, which can get expensive.

not with the manual...

You may be able to get a TL-S for 20k automatic but not a manual. They are rare and dealers know it. I paid 25,500 for my 08 TL-S --25,000 miles Certified and the car is perfect. Getting THAT price was a battle.
I am in the Tri State area. I see some dealers asking 28-29k for a car with low mileage thats certified. The manual shifts at least.
I know from stalking these cars for like a year that when a nice clean one comes up you have to jump on it.

Here in Canada, a typical 2007 TL-S with 50k on it sells for $29,000. I think their holding its resale value quite well, in my opinion.

I think P1zzaman's pics were actually of DIY anti theft systems LOL!!! If I were a thief out looking to steal a TL I sure as shit would not take one with fake side louvres, or ridiculous wings stuck to it.

It's easier to identify too.

Scenario 1:

Officer: "Please describe your car"
You: "It's a white TL... please find it, I need it back! It's my life!"
Officer: "Ok White TL..." *Enters into database, comes back with 3 million entries*

Scenario 2:

Officer: "Please describe your car"
You: "It's a white TL... with fake engine ports and carbon fiber F1 spoiler and 22 inch rims, please find it, I need it back! It's my life!"
Officer: "Ok, I will find it" *Goes on a break then quits his job*

In both cases, you lose. So please install LoJack or a good alarm system

Yup I agree completely. I saw this post and thought what is he talking about declining resale value. They certainly are holding their value very well in this part of the country.

When you look at other luxury vehicles, like a 2006 Audi A4, their resale value is declining. A 2006 Audi A4 with 55k sells for $22,000.

Heh? Sooo what does that have anything to do with the value of a 07 and 08 Type S that are being seen listed near 30K in some cases???

My 08 TL w/Navi 42k miles was $23k. You guys may scream that I was hosed but my dealer includes a lifetime warranty on used cars with under 50k miles. It also had a few cosmetic options such as body colored mud flaps and door side moldings. I wasn't needing a type-S anyway since i use hand controls i'd never be able to use the paddle shifters. I wonder why the Type-S models are depreciating so much faster than non type-S models. Both models are nice if you ask me.

I think a lot of it has to do with location. Id I was willing to drive 6 hours I could have gotten a type s manual with 45k for 19,500. (taupe interior though on a solver car). Some places it sells, some places it doesnt.

Sorry I missed something in that sentence

"When you look at other luxury vehicles, like a 2006 Audi A4, their (I mean Audi's) resale value is declining. A 2006 Audi A4 with 55k sells for $22,000."

I few posts above I mentioned that TL-S resale value holds quite well. I was just comparing TL-S resale value with 2006 Audi A4.
