Decklid lip question
Looking to buy a decklid lip spoiler. Is this http://www.acurapartsforless.com/acu..._name=spring-l
required for the install? Also, is this bolt on or just 3M double sided tape work well?

that spring is for the factory wing spoiler. the wing spoiler is heavy. and needs a spring for the trunk to pop open.
if you're putting on a decklid "M3" spoiler, no need for the spring.
also, its up to you how to mount it. you can bolt it down along with 3m tape, or you can just use 3m tape.

i believe there are marks on the spoiler to indicate where you should drill.
in the trunk there are holes or crevices that you drill through.
my buddy showed me how his was drilled through the trunk, the holes arent marked but its like a crevice, or like a spot meant for drilling

Hmm, i think the double sided tape option is going to be way easier lol. Just worried about how well it will hold up, and if there will be a noticeable gap between the lip & the truck because of the tape.

I would definitely try to bolt it in place. A member was kind enough to install my Type-S lip spoiler for me. He used a very expensive and strong adhesive double sided 3M tape to install it on my trunk. He wiped my trunk completely clean to make sure the bond was near perfect.
This was back in October 2013. Now it's May (7 months later) and the edges on both ends of my Type-S lip spoiler are slightly losing contact. The 3M tape along the outer edges have given up and will no longer sit 100% flush with the trunk. The gap is noticeable if you look at it eye level from the side.
Sometimes I wonder if it's going to fly off on the highway lol. I don't think so because the rest of the tape holding it is still holding it very strong. Only about 1 inch or so on the edges have started to fail.

The spring is also for the oem deck lip spoiler. It does add weight to it where it seems your trunk barely opens.
OP imo its best to bolt it down. When I installed my type-s spoiler I had created a template and measured exactly where I needed to drill. There are no markings that indicates where to drill but like spaceman said there are crevice where you can mark and drill at. I also used 3m acrylic tape to hold it down better.

butt, we all save money by going to ebay and picking up a replica for like $70-100.
if you compare the real thing to the replica, yes it does look different, but when its on the car no one can tell.
I def. will buy a deck lid spoiler from ebay when I get bored with my rear end

yeah I had that 3M style for my TL for a good 2 years. I admit even the OEM base lip spoiler looks better than the 3m style I had. It looked very tiny from the sides and doesn't flow well with the curvature of the trunk like the OEM base / Type-S lip spoilers do.
I was able to get my hands on a Type-S lip spoiler for $75 and have had it installed for 6-7 months now and I love the way it blends in better compared to the ebay spoiler I was running for 2 years.
